Today we do not work with compressed files because of the space we save, since we all have very large hard drives and, in addition, storage media today are very cheap. However, compressing the files helps us to be able to share them much more easily on the Internet, since, instead of having to send dozens of files separately, we can send them all within the same file. And, if we need it, divide them into parts and protect them with a password. The only thing we need to work with compressed files is a compressor. And one of the best is PeaZip .
PeaZip is a totally free, open source compressor designed to allow us to compress and decompress files. This software is one of the best alternatives that we can find for WinRAR, being a software compatible with more than 200 different formats, very light, simple and without limitations or restrictions of any kind.

Its developers usually release new versions of the program once a month. And, although they are not usually very large updates, they help us to continue using it without missing anything. Today, just a few hours ago, the new PeaZip 7.9 reached users.
What’s new in PeaZip 7.9
The first of the novelties that we find in this new version of the program is Pea 1.00 . This new version of the backend adds a 512-bit hash function to the backend of the program. Other algorithms such as Blake2b, SHA512, SHA3_512, and Whirlpool have also been added to the Windows context menu.
Another important novelty that we find in this new version is that now the program works much better with temporary files , which translates directly into an improvement in performance when opening and extracting files. Support for ZPAQ has also been improved, improving the extraction of compressed files in this format. Other file systems have also been improved so that users can work with them more comfortably.

The graphical interface of the new PeaZip 7.9 has also received some minor tweaks to make it more comfortable to work with. For example, now we can customize the spacing between files, and configure a zoom for the elements. Deleting files from the Windows program interface no longer requires running as Administrator, nor will it ask us to pass the UAC.
The internal code of the program has also received a fair amount of changes and bug fixes found during development. And finally, the Linux installer has been updated to Qt5, both in DEB and RPM. And finally, the portable version no longer requires installation.
Download and update
This new version of PeaZip is now available to all users. If we want, we can download it for free from the following link . We can choose between a 32-bit version, or a 64-bit version, the latter being recommended. In addition, we can install the compressor on the computer to use it by default, or run it in a portable way, without installing it.
Unlike other programs, such as WinRAR or Bandizip , PeaZip will not limit any of its functions, and it will not display any ads or advertisements.
