OPPO Watch: Analysis and Opinion of the Smart Watch for Android

Finding a good smartwatch is not an easy task within the android segment. It seems that Apple has quite dominated the sector with its Apple Watch, however, when it comes to looking for a smartwatch for Android, things get quite complicated. This reality has probably caused my surprise to be even greater with the Oppo Watch , a very interesting model that I have been testing for a long time and which I did not want to let any more time pass without telling you about my experience. If you were considering it to buy, this interests you. Be comfortable.

OPPO Watch: Analysis and Opinion

Good design and a key interface

As I said at the beginning of this article and in the video that you have on these lines, it has been a long time since I gave up on looking for a watch for Android. It is true that currently some manufacturers have put the batteries and we can find some interesting proposals -the famous Watch 2 from Huawei- comes to mind-, but in the end they all generate the same feeling: that they are cut by the same pattern, without contribute nothing especially differentiating and wearing the same virtues and the same defects. Luckily OPPO has wanted to distance itself a bit from this trend with its Watch, a team that was launched in its catalog with the idea of being an alternative precisely to the current models on the market.

And this is noticeable to begin with in its design . The OPPO Watch is very reminiscent (well, rather, very much) of the Apple Watch, because it is presented with an elegant square aluminum case very similar to the Cupertino proposal. There are many users who prefer the more classic rounded design, but if this is not your case and you like something more current or modern, in this Oppo you will find just that: rectangular lines (with rounded corners), hidden buttons on one side (a Despite this, the pulsation is quite good) and, on the whole, a very comfortable body on the wrist with a silicone strap, which is also quite comfortable to change (another positive mini-point).

Moving on to the experience of use, which is what really matters, you will find a watch with an AMOLED screen that looks good outdoors and responds well to touches, although without standing out in any particular aspect. It complies well. Point. Still, what I really think adds value to this joint team is its interface. And it is that far from offering the same old Wear OS, which is what we are used to, OPPO has put its own layer based on Color OS (the one that its phones wear), thereby giving it a turn of nut and making this watch really more special.

OPPO Watch

I like the way in which access to applications, management of notifications … in short, there is something different and fresh in this interface that makes you feel that it is Wear OS but at another level, and that you may be very grateful to time to drive by the clock. Sometimes, yes, it can be “excess” in its approach and is that, for example, for training you will find two applications, OPPO’s own and Google’s, and that in the end is a bit dizzy because obviously it Ideally, you always use the same solution to measure your workouts. Still, it is still a minor inconvenience.

OPPO Watch

It goes without saying that it measures your heart rate, monitors your sleep and even comes with NFC , something that is worth noting because it will allow you to make payments with Android Pay – and not all watches offer this possibility. It is waterproof, its watchfaces (wallpapers) are varied and can be customized, and it even allows the assignment, in one of its buttons, of the opening of the app you want, so that it acts as a direct access to that that interests you the most.

Autonomy, its great slope

Obviously, not everything is rosy and, like all gadgets, this one also has its drawbacks. In this case, as you may already be fearing, its Achilles heel comes with its battery, which will not last more than a day , which can greatly condition its use – and lose points compared to other android watches, much more durable. . It is true that there is a 46 mm version (the one I have been testing is the 41 mm one) that has a somewhat wider module, but I doubt that the difference in capacity is so impressive that you really notice a substantial change in terms autonomy.

OPPO Watch

At least, yes, it charges very fast thanks to its VOOC technology – again OPPO uses its resources applied in its phones – and in about 15 minutes you can have practically 30% of the battery full, which can get you out of trouble. some other hurry.

OPPO Watch

Its charging base is manageable but I did not like that it only has one placement position. It is not a very serious failure (it would be missing more), but it does not cease to detract from the comfort of the experience, especially knowing that you will have to execute the same positioning gesture every day at the end of the day.

Price of the OPPO Watch, at the height?

If autonomy is a drawback, the issue of price is not far behind. We are talking about a team that costs 240 euros , in the case of the 41 mm version, and up to 399 euros if we talk about the 46 mm model (which comes with eSIM support, curved screen and some more flourishes). For a watch from a brand that still needs to continue to penetrate the public and in a segment as complicated as smartwatches – where it seems that only Apple seems to have a “license” to demand a high price – I think these are too high figures. high that could make this great device a bit forgotten.

OPPO Watch

It is true that in return you take home a watch that is something different compared to the competition and that is always appreciated, but perhaps not even those will be enough for the end user to decide to bet on the OPPO Watch and make the aforementioned investment. Of course, the last word, as always, you have.
