OPPO: How to Fix Problems When Updating Mobile

Updates to our mobile are very important. Being up to date not only provides us with all the news integrated by the manufacturer, but also the peace of mind of having the security patches that have been released. However, as happens in OPPO terminals, sometimes we can have problems so that these updates are carried out correctly.

OPPO: How to Fix Problems When Updating

There can be several causes that cause problems in the updates. In the vast majority of them, we can solve it ourselves , since there are factors related to memory, the connection to the network or the battery, which can be the cause of these problems.

The first thing you have to do

Before looking for other types of solutions, there are some key aspects that we must check and that OPPO itself recommends when we have problems with updates.

Free up space on your mobile

It is a very common cause, since if we have limited storage space, the update cannot be downloaded . We can do it from Settings / Storage / and tap on “Free Up Space”. OPPO mobiles have a powerful cleaning motor , so it is possible that the problem will be solved after leaving free space.

Close all applications

Background apps may be consuming network resources and may interfere with the correct update procedure. We must try to close them all from the recent applications menu and go to the update again to see if the problem has disappeared.

Restart the mobile

It is the best way to free the accumulated cache and unblock possible corrupted system files that are forcing the mobile to update correctly. To force the restart we must press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons simultaneously for at least eight seconds until we see the OPPO logo . When the phone has restarted, we will try to install the update again.

When the update is slow

It is one of the most common problems, the download starts but is excessively slow, which makes it almost impossible to carry out or not until after an exasperating period of time. To try to get the update back to a normal rhythm, we must try the following:

  • Switch between data connection and Wi-Fi to see if the slowness problem is fixed.
  • Approach the router and, if necessary, run a speed test of our connection to verify if it is the reason for the slowness.
  • Check the weight of the update, since sometimes and depending on the type of patch, it can weigh more than 1 GB and require more time than standard security patches. For example, in operating system changes, such as the update to ColorOS 7 or the imminent arrival of ColorOS 11 , it is easy for the update to exceed 4 GB.

Other tips

If the above solutions don’t fix our update issues, there are still several things we can review and actions to take as a last resort.

  • Make sure the phone’s battery is full or connect the charger before installing updates.
  • Check if the OTA update has been officially released for our region and device model. Otherwise we could be waiting for an update that will never come.
  • Do not use VPN or change the VPN to another region, where the OTA is launched. This could lead to brand crashes and update issues.
