How to Open the System Properties of the Windows Control Panel

Since the arrival of Windows 10, in 2015, the Control Panel has been sentenced. More and more options and settings are being moved to the new Settings menu so that users can adjust the operating system more easily and seamlessly. Although this may be fine, there are settings within this Control Panel that are very useful to be able to have an overview of our system and, in turn, access more advanced settings that have not yet been moved to the new settings. One of them is the classic system window.

The Windows system window has been around the operating system since the Windows 95 and Windows NT 3.51 era. In it, we can find at a glance a large amount of basic information about our PC , such as the version of Windows that we have installed, the type of system, processor, RAM, name and workspace of the equipment, and even if our Windows is activated or not.

Open the System Properties of the Windows Control Panel

It is not a section from which we can do much, but in terms of basic information on the system it is the most complete that we can find.

Windows 10 20H2 redirects many Control Panel applets

It was already known that, little by little, the Windows control panel was going to lose importance and weight within the operating system. However, there are some of these applets that shouldn’t go away yet, as the available alternatives within the Settings menu are still pretty poor.

Some of the redirected applets are, for example, the disk manager, the option that allows us to adjust the refresh rate of the screen and, as we have said, the classic system information screen that, now, redirects us to the section ” About your PC ” from the Settings menu.

The migration of the Control Panel to the new Windows 10 Settings menu is mandatory and irreversible. But what we can do is resort to a series of tricks (at least, while they work) that allow us to access this section of Windows again.

Create a shortcut to “System”

The first of the tricks that we are going to see to reopen this section of Windows 10 is to do it through a shortcut. This is possible because, although Microsoft has redirected all the elements to point to the new section, the corresponding applet has not yet been removed from the Control Panel.

To do this, what we must do is place ourselves in an empty part of our desktop (or the folder that we want), and click with the right button on this section. Now, we will select the New> Shortcut option.

Nuevo Acceso Directo W10 Sistema

When it asks us for the location of said shortcut, what we must do is enter the following in the address bar:

explorer shell ::: {BB06C0E4-D293-4f75-8A90-CB05B6477EEE} [/ code]

Acceso directo para abrir propiedades de sistema en W10

Next, we will give the name we want to this shortcut, and that’s it.

Nombre sistema acceso directo W10

We can see a new shortcut on the desktop that has the same icon as the file explorer of our Windows. If we double-click on it we can see how the new system properties window will open, with all the basic information about our team.

Ventana de propiedades de sistema e información del PC en Windows

We can save this shortcut wherever we want. But if we do it within a directory that we have indexed within the Windows 10 search engine, we will be able to open it directly, as a program or one more configuration, simply looking for its name within the “applications” tab of this search engine.

Abrir propiedades del sistema desde buscador

And if we do not want to have the direct access, we can also do this in other ways.

Open system information from Control Panel

Although Microsoft has removed the system icon within the Control Panel in the latest versions of Windows 10, it is still possible to use it. To do this, simply type in the search engine “Control Panel” or “Control Panel” to open this Windows tool panel.

As we can see, an icon called “System” still appears . However, if we click on it we can see how the new Windows Settings menu opens instead of opening the classic PC basic information window.

Instead of clicking on the “System” icon that appears here, what we must do is write “System” in the bar at the top of this window. And hit enter. We can also do it by typing ” Control Panel / System and security / System ” in the address bar, although the truth is that it is much faster, and sufficient, to do it only with “System”.

As we can see, the classic Windows system window will open, with all the basic information about our PC.

How long will these tricks work?

Of course Microsoft is taking the migration of the Control Panel to the new Windows 10 Configuration Panel very seriously. But there is still a lot of work ahead. It is true that there are more and more sections that have been taken to the Settings menu, some the same, or improved, but others still leave a lot to be desired, especially for more advanced users.

Therefore, it is still too early to say that the Windows Control Panel is finished. There is still a long time until it completely disappears from Windows 10, assuming it is going to do so, since Microsoft should greatly improve the current Settings menu, especially for more advanced users, which is where it lacks the most.
