Facebook has a new application, currently in beta phase and only for iOS. That means that if you want to access it you will have to have an iPhone and an invitation. But if you do, you will be able to start creating music videos collaboratively with other users. Its name is Collab and yes, it is similar to TikTok duets.
Collab, collaborative music videos

Create music together while we are apart. That is the slogan of Collab , the new Facebook application. A tool that is currently only available for iOS users and in beta, so you need an invitation to access it and see for yourself what it offers. But if you can’t, we will tell you what it is exactly.
Collab is a development of Facebook’s experimental products division, or NPE (New Product Experimentation). This application is based on being able to create music videos through collaborative work . That is, together with friends and acquaintances or you just playing an orchestra boy, the idea is to record several video clips with different musical pieces that are then put together to result in the final piece.
Still not clear? Well, surely during these last weeks you have seen many examples of this style. For example, the video in which those responsible for the Animal Crossing soundtrack performed the main theme of the game.
Well Collab is going to allow you to do that easily. Although knowing a bit of video editing, it is true that it makes it easier to do it directly from the phone. So what else does this new app offer? Well here comes the interesting thing, all those video clips that you record have to be published first in the Collab feed.
Any video published in the Collab feed can be used by other users to create their own music composition. And that is the part where we find that inspiration with TikTok, because it is a very similar and successful idea of said platform: duets.
As we explained, making a duet on TikTok is very simple and has been one of the great attractions for many users of this platform. So, in part, the new Facebook application is inspired by them so that any user can create new content from the rest of the content generated by other users. Even the platform itself could create new pieces. Always giving credit to the user who created each fragment.
These new videos or compositions can then be shared through other social networks , it is not something exclusive to be published only on Facebook. Which is also interesting to attract new users who would see Collab more as a tool and not as something linked to a social network. But over time, if you dig into the idea, it could be one of those features that would help Facebook compete with TikTok. Something that has been trying for some time through other of its star platforms, Instagram.
How to test Facebook Collab
If you want to try Collab on Facebook you need an invitation. For this you can register through the form enabled for the occasion through this link. In theory it is something only for users in the US and Canada, but that does not mean that you could receive an invitation with which to access the new tool.
