If you have a Nintendo Switch with several months of life, you probably know the term Joy-Con Drift, or in other words, when the controller stops working correctly and generates random pulsations and movements. Has it happened to you? Does it sound familiar? Well, Nintendo says they are nonsense.
A class action lawsuit
In the United States they are putting together a class action lawsuit to make the problem official and get Nintendo to repair the affected controls for free and be forced to do a redesign of it. The law firm in charge of the process is Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith (CSK & D), so with the idea of compiling a common speech, you are contacting a lot of users so that they can provide a testimony that confirms the problem.
The document you are sending to the volunteers asks for a video recording of at least 90 seconds in which to tell the difficulties and problems caused by the Joy-Con’s malfunction, in order to counter Nintendo’s opinion that “it is not no problem ”or“ has caused no problem to anyone ”.
That is what the lawyers’ document says, so it is understood that they must have had a few first words with the brand, obtaining that response. If so, if Nintendo does not admit the clear problem that exists in its controls, an interesting legal battle between many users and the brand will probably start, not to mention the stir that could be mounted on the internet.
You just have to see the number of videos that exist commenting on the problem, and not only demonstrating that the problems occur, but there are countless tutorials to learn how to fix the Joy-Con problem. In the end, many users choose to buy bluetooth controllers for Switch with which they can play quietly, although that reduces the portability that characterizes the console so much.
How do you fix a malfunctioning Joy-Con?
If the Joy-Stick on your Joy-Con has stopped working properly, or just isn’t syncing properly with the console, don’t have the slightest doubt that your Joy-Con is affected. The problems are usually mainly two:
Joystick that moves by itself
The joystick on the controller generates involuntary movements even without touching it. It is especially evident in games with camera movement or with character movements, since they move involuntarily without the need to touch the controller.
Solution: Replace the joystick with a new one. Its price is quite cheap, and with a bit of bad (requires opening the remote) it can be changed without problems.
Joy-Con connection failure
Another problem is related to the synchronization and connection between the controller and the console. The Joy-Con does not link well and cannot be played in two-player mode, since the controller does not respond correctly to the single joy-con command. The problem is in an internal flex-type cable, which comes from the factory pressed down enough and ends up producing a communication failure.
Solution: Replace the flex cable of the remote. It requires opening and changing it according to the model (left joy-con or right joy-con). It is quite inexpensive.
