Nintendo‘s new portable console hides some secrets that are sure to entertain those lucky enough to get hold of a unit at its launch. And, although the new Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros is limited to offering three games, at least it will leave us a couple of surprises that will attract our attention.
1.- How to choose level
Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels was the original Super Mario Bros 2 that was released in Japan, however, its levels were so complicated, that in other countries they preferred to release a modified version of Doki Doki Panic . However, as the work was done, it later made it to the United States and Europe as Super Mario Bros: Tee Lost Levels .
If you were one of those who due to its difficulty could not complete it completely, now with this Game & Watch you can reach any level in the simplest way you could imagine. When you are on the main screen, instead of pressing Start, press the B button to see how the selection list of levels appears before you.
2.- Infinite lives
Another help you can have is to start playing with infinite lives. To do this, press and hold the A button before pressing Start on the main screen, and you will start playing with infinite lives. To return to the normal state, you will only have to pause the game and select the reset.
3.- Play with Luigi in Ball
The third game included is Ball. It is a famous game from the early consoles with liquid crystal screens in which Mario had to keep his balance showing his skills as a juggler. Well, you can also play as Luigi by holding down the A button before starting the game.
4.- Activating the hard mode
The hard mode is a mode that was already present in the original game and that will take care of placing enemies in places where you don’t expect it. To activate it, you will need to complete the first Super Mario Bros, and thus the option will appear in the main menu.
5.- The most striking modes of the watch
As you well know, the digital clock mode offers an infinite number of modes in which to see many Mario worlds representing the current time, but there will be some specific hours in which we will see especially striking designs.
Some of the special hours with the following:
- From 7:00 to 7:59 a Mole Monty will appear from the ground and start running across the screen.
- At 05:55 and 17:55 the blocks will bring the digital coin clock to life.
- At 01:11 and 13:11 three Bloopers will appear and float to the top of the screen.
6.- How to unlock the secret world
If you complete Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels ( pictured Super Mario Bros 2, as it is the Japan version ) , the home screen will add a star to the game title. Well, repeat this process up to a total of 8 times to get 8 coins and you can finally access the so-called world A. To enter this world, collect the 8 stars and press B on the home screen.
