Apple tends to be considered a very closed company to third parties and in part it is understandable because of the history behind it. However, in recent years, especially with Tim Cook at the helm, the company has opened the ban on compatibility of its services with devices from other companies. This happens with its streaming series and movies service and we already have new televisions compatible with the Apple TV app, specifically from the Sony brand.
Sony announces new compatibility
The Japanese company is phasing out the Apple TV application to its televisions for 2020, but also for 2018 and 2019. Until now, only some models from 2019 were compatible, but that list has been expanded considerably. If you have any of these televisions you will be in luck.

Is not your television?
If your Sony television model is not on this list, it is likely that at some point this app will end up arriving, as long as it is a new model. If it is from 2017 or earlier, unfortunately it will not end up arriving. In any case, a new expansion of this list of compatible devices is not expected, although the new models that will be launched in 2021 are expected to have it already incorporated as standard.
