YouTube is one of the most used streaming platforms in the world. Millions of users access it every day to watch all kinds of videos, from listening to music to watching the shows of their favorite YouTubers. Even why not, to have a laugh with humorous videos. And, although problems have always been the order of the day in this social network, lately more account problems have started to appear among users who access this platform from Windows 10 with Chromium-based browsers.
Both Microsoft and Google receive hundreds of messages every day from users who have problems playing videos on the social network, either to listen to them or to play them. However, in a short time the number of bug reports has skyrocketed, especially since Windows 10, which receives 95% of reports about problems that make videos unable to be heard .
Reasons that prevent us from listening to a video
There are many reasons why we may not hear YouTube videos, or that they are heard excessively low. The most common thing is to have the speakers muted due to having pressed the mute key by mistake. We can also find that the volume of the operating system itself is very low , or that we have limited the Chrome sound from the sound manager.
Another very common error related to web page audio may be that we have muted the tab in the browser to prevent it from playing sound. Or that we have our own video volume control lower than we thought.
Finally, there may also be a problem with the Windows driver that causes the sound to not work. And even that the speakers themselves are poorly connected to the PC (either by cable or wirelessly).
As we can see, there are many reasons why Windows sound can fail. But both Google and Microsoft want to help us solve these problems, wherever they come from.
Soon we will have more control over the sound of Chrome and Edge
As we can see in one of the latest Chromium code changes, Microsoft and Google have put aside their differences in order to end one of the problems that most annoy users. In this way, both Chrome and Edge, as well as other Chromium-based browsers, will have better integration within the volume mixer of the operating system.
Thanks to these changes, it will be much easier to see the state of the sound of Chrome and other browsers that use the same engine, in it. Even Chromium could know if the volume of the PC is too low, or muted, and help us to solve this problem through its own solvers.
At the moment we do not know when these changes will arrive neither to the browsers nor to the operating system. But it’s all a matter of time, it shouldn’t take long. And when they arrive, we can say goodbye to YouTube problems with Windows 10 sound.
