New End of Support Notices for Windows 10 version 1909

Each of the versions of Windows 10 has a life cycle of 18 months. During all that time, the version receives all kinds of quality and security security updates so that errors are corrected and the safety of users can be guaranteed. These 18 months usually give us time to update to two or three different versions of the operating system, since they usually come out approximately every 6 months. However, if we do not update over time, we can not only put our PC in danger, but we will also start to see annoying warnings that will ask us again and again to change the version.

Although it will be 18 months soon, Windows 10 version 1909 still has a worrying market share. According to the latest reports, three out of 10 computers are currently using version 1909, or an earlier version, of Windows. And, of course, they are in danger.

Windows 10 version 1909

Microsoft is trying to get the majority of users to use supported versions of Windows, although its history of update problems makes it difficult. More and more users are clinging to the saying that if something works it is better not to touch it , and without thinking, they prefer to put themselves in danger rather than risk something going wrong.

Thus, users who use an unsupported version of the operating system, or about to reach its end of cycle, will begin to see a message informing them of the danger.

New notice to report that Windows is in danger

Users who are still using Windows 10 version 1909, or an earlier version, for a few hours have started to see a new warning on their computer. This notice appears in the same shape as the Windows Update icon when there are pending updates, in the system tray. By placing the mouse over it we will see a message that will tell us that ” Your version of Windows 10 will reach the end of the service soon . Click to download a more recent version of Windows 10 to continue having support.”

Aviso fin soporte windows 10

If we click on the Windows Update icon, we will be able to see a message showing one of the two most recent versions of the system: version 2004 or the latest version, 20H2. Microsoft has stopped blocking these versions to users and now everyone, regardless of their PC configuration, will be able to see them available to update.

Trouble updating

But, of course, not everything was going to be okay. There are users who, despite seeing the Windows notice about the end of support for their version of Windows, still cannot update . In some cases an error message appears stating that the version (20H1, 20H2, etc) is on the way, and other users simply get errors when trying to install the new version.

The only way to remove new messages that ask us to update the PC to a supported version is to do so. And if we cannot do it through Windows Update then we will have to update Windows by hand, downloading the media creation tool from here and trying to complete the process to continue using a supported version on our PC to avoid problems.

Check what version of Windows I have

Do you have Windows updated? What version of the operating system are you using? If you have doubts, we can easily check the version of the system that we have installed in a very simple way.

We simply have to execute the ” winver ” command in the Windows search engine and look at the version that appears to us. If 2004 or 20H2 appears in the “version” area, then our PC is updated to a 2020 version. But if 1909 appears, or any previous numbering, then we are out of date.
