How to Move Data from One Google Account to Another

There are many people who have a Google account, either because they have a mobile phone with Android operating system, because they use Gmail as email or any of Google’s services. However, at some point we may want to create a new account but there is data that we would like to move from the current account to the new one. Unfortunately, Google does not allow us to merge accounts, therefore, we have no choice but to move information from one Google account to another manually.

The truth is that it is difficult to believe that the Internet giant does not offer the possibility of being able to move all the information from one account to another automatically, but we imagine that its motives will have. In any case, if we need to carry out this process, we must know that we will have to go service by service by moving the information that interests us from one Google account to the other. Next, we will show you how to do it step by step with the most used services, such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, settings and passwords for Chrome, Calendar, Google Photos, etc.

How to move all Gmail messages and contacts

Surely in Gmail is where we have more information saved, especially if we have been using Google email for years as our usual contact email address. In it we can have saved thousands of emails and all our contacts , hence a priori may seem the most complicated task when moving all the information from one Google account to another.

However, there is a fairly simple and automatic way to move all this data from one account to another. For this, these are the steps that we must follow.

  • We open a browser and go to Gmail .
  • We identify with our new Google account, that is, in which we want to import all messages and contacts.
  • Click on the gear icon and access the Settings .
  • Select the Accounts and Import tab.

  • We look for the option Import mail and contacts and click on the option Import from another address .
  • We write the address of our current Google account (from which we will export messages and contacts).
  • We log in to that account and click on Continue .

  • We select the account from which we want to export messages and contacts.
  • We accept the permissions so that the Gmail ShuttleCloud Migration tool can access our messages and contacts.
  • We choose what we want to import, Contacts, Mail or New Mail from the next 30 days and click on Start import.

  • Depending on the number of messages, attachments and contacts we have, the process may take more or less time.
  • Finally, in the new Google account we will see how all our contacts from the old account appear and all email messages will appear under the label with the name of that account.

YouTube channel with all videos and subscriptions

The only option that allows us to transfer all videos and subscriptions from a YouTube channel to another Google account is when we want to move everything to another brand account. Therefore, if what we want is to change all the information on our YouTube channel to another Google account, we will have to do it manually.

To move all the videos, we will have to go to the current YouTube account, download the videos and then upload them to the new account. It is possible to download all the videos through Google Takeout , but later we will have to upload them one by one in our new account.

To keep all our subscriptions, we can go to the subscriptions page of our current channel, enter the new YouTube account and add each subscription manually. It is important to know that we will lose all the comments of our videos, followers, etc.

Everything stored in Google Photos to another Google account

On this occasion, Google makes it a bit easier, since it offers us up to two different ways to move everything stored in Google Photos in our account to another Google account. The first one is through Google Takeout , the tool specially designed to export the content of some of the services of the giant search engine easily.
From Google Takeout, uncheck all options except Google Photos and proceed with your download. There we will save all the photos and albums of the service in the same quality. Now, all we have left is to upload them back to the new Google account. In this case, we have no choice but to do it manually.

The other option is to share all the photos of our account with the new profile by configuring it as a collaborator. For it:

  • We enter Google Photos with our current account.
  • We go to the menu and select Manage your library .
  • This will show us the option to add a collaborator account . Click on Start .

  • We choose the new Google account or write it and click Next .
  • We indicate if we want to limit access to all the photos or not, being able to do it by dates.
  • We finish the process.
  • We accept the invitation we will receive in the new Google account.
  • We will already have access to all the photos and albums of Google Photos.

Transfer your entire Calendar to the new Google account

Transferring the calendar from our current account to a new one is also a fairly simple process. For this, these are the steps that we must follow:

  • Let’s go to Google Calendar with the current account.
  • Click on the gear icon and enter Settings .
  • We display the Import and export menu.
  • Select the Export option.
  • Click on the Export button.
  • Unzip the .zip file that is saved on our disk.

  • Let’s go to Google Calendar with the new Google account.
  • Click on the gear icon and enter Settings .
  • We display the Import and export menu .
  • Select the Import option.
  • We choose the calendars we want to import from those we have decompressed.
  • They will be imported to the calendar of the new account one by one.

Google Chrome

All passwords that we store in Chrome and favorite sites are associated and linked to our Google account. Therefore, if we are going to change accounts and want to continue having all this information at hand, we will have to export it from an account to import it into the new one.

Export and import passwords:

  • We open Chrome with our current account.
  • Click on the browser menu button to enter Settings .
  • We click Passwords in the AutoComplete section.
  • We click on the menu button that appears next to Saved passwords.
  • Select Export passwords.
  • Again we click on Export password.
  • Enter our password or Windows identification mode.
  • We indicate the name of the file and the path where we want to save.

The option to import passwords is not active in Google Chrome, therefore, these are the steps to follow:

  • Open Chrome and type in the address bar chrome: // flags / # PasswordImport.
  • We activate the flag.
  • We save the changes and launch the browser again.

  • Click on the browser menu button to enter Settings.
  • We click Passwords in the AutoComplete section.
  • We click on the menu button that appears next to Saved passwords.
  • Select Import.
  • Select the file with the passwords we have exported before and press Open.

Export and import bookmarks or bookmarks:

  • We open Chrome with the current account.
  • Click on the menu button and select Bookmarks> Manage bookmarks.
  • We click on the menu button on the bookmarks page.
  • Select Export markers.

  • We give it a name and select the route and press Save.
  • We open Chrome with the new Google account.
  • Click on the menu button and select Bookmarks> Manage bookmarks.
  • We click on the menu button on the bookmarks page.
  • Select Import bookmarks.
  • Select the previously exported file and click Open.

Google Drive

If we are one of those who like to save our files in the cloud and use a Google account, then surely we have many files stored in Drive that we want to move to another account. For it:

  • We open Google Drive from the current account.
  • We select all stored content.
  • We click the right mouse button and select the Share option.

  • We write the address of the new Google account.
  • Click Send .
  • We send the link and confirm the security captcha.
  • We open Google Drive with the new account.
  • Let’s go to the Shared with me option .
  • We select all the files that will appear from the old account.
  • We click the right mouse button and select Add to my unit.

Google Maps

If we routinely use the Google Maps service and we have saved certain information associated with our account, we should know that there is also no way to move all that data to a new Google account. All we can do is transfer or share our lists. To do this, all we have to do is enter Google Maps with our current account on the mobile phone and follow these steps:

  • We touch on the Saved option.
  • Select the Lists tab.
  • We touch on the menu button that appears next to each list.
  • Select the option Share List .
  • We chose to share it with the other Google account.
  • We repeat the process with all the lists we want to transfer.
