To scan a QR code on a Motorola phone, open Camera and point it at the code. If no link appears, try Google Lens from the camera or Google search widget. The buttons available depend on your phone model and Android version.
Scan a QR code with the camera
- Open the phone’s normal Camera app. Use the rear camera and the standard photo view.
- Fit the whole QR code inside the viewfinder. Keep the phone steady and leave a little space around the code.
- Wait for a link or suggested action. Tap it after checking the website address.
- If nothing appears, open the camera settings and look for a QR-code or Google Lens option. Enable it if your model provides one.
Motorola’s camera and Lens instructions explain that this option is not available on every model. There is no single “Motorola QR code setup” switch that fits the entire range.
Use Google Lens if the camera does not read it
- Tap the Lens icon in the Google search widget, or in Camera if it is shown.
- Point it at the code and select the result. Adjust the search frame if Lens selects something beside the code.
- Review the address or other information before opening it.
This is also a useful route on older models, such as a Moto E7, when the camera’s menus differ from a newer phone. Check the model’s own user guide rather than assuming it has a separate built-in scanner. Some newer models also offer a QR scanner in Quick Settings.
Scan a QR code saved on the same phone
You do not need to photograph your phone with another camera. Open the screenshot or saved picture in Google Photos, then tap Lens. Crop to the code if necessary. Motorola documents this photo-and-screenshot method in the same support guide.
Why is the QR code not scanning?

A Wi-Fi code and a website code do different things

A working QR scanner does not make the destination trustworthy. Check unfamiliar payment or sign-in links before entering information. Google’s Android QR code guide provides another official route if your phone’s camera interface looks different.
