Motorola Moto G9 Power vs Moto G9 Plus: Technical Differences

Nobody said it was easy to choose between two Motorola phones. The Lenovo brand knows how to move well in the mid-range, and that means that some launches may slightly overlap with others. For this reason and before any doubts you may have, we wanted to make a technical comparison between the Moto G9 Power and the Moto G9 Plus, to see their main differences and advantages of one over the other.

Both terminals were launched with little difference. The Moto G9 Power did it in November of last year, while its brother the Moto G9 Plus did it a little earlier, in September 2020. We will see that there are important differences between the two, but others in which we will hardly notice differences.

Screen and dimensions

The aesthetic section is the first thing in which both terminals are different. The design of the cameras is the hallmark that differentiates them the most, since on the front they both include an omen to house the front sensor. They both sport a huge 6.8-inch screen. However, only the Moto G9 Plus has a FullHD + resolution compared to the HD + resolution of the G9 Power.

It is the Moto G9 Plus that also achieves a better relationship between the body and the screen, with 84.3% of the front, compared to 83.1% of its brother. In addition, it offers a much higher pixel density with its 386 dpi compared to 263 dpi. In terms of weight and thickness, there is practically a technical tie between the two, since the thickness of both is 9.7 millimeters, but there is only two grams of difference in weight, with the G9 Power’s 221 grams compared to the 223 grams of the G9 Plus.

Processor and memory

In these terminals we cannot expect the highest levels of performance, since both are committed to mid-range terminals from Qualcomm. The Moto G9 Power integrates a Snapdragon 662 , while its brother does the same with a more modern Snapdragon 730G . Both are marketed in versions of 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. In both cases it is expandable by microSD cards.

If we put its real performance on the table, taking into account some of the most popular performance programs such as AnTuTu, we see that the Moto G9 Power reaches 178,000 points, while the Moto G9 Plus exceeds 222,000. It is not a scandalous difference but the advantage of the Moto G9 Plus can be perceived in moments of greater technical demand such as with one of the most popular games or aggressive multitasking.

They send the 64 megapixels

Turning them over we see a different bet in quantity, but not so much in the objective. The Moto G9 Power sports three sensors, the main one being 64 megapixels , and the process is finished with macro and depth sensors of 2 megapixels each. The G9 Plus also bets on a 64 megapixel sensor, and also on two 2 megapixel macro and depth sensors. However, up the ante with a fourth ultra-wide sensor.

On the front and in the hole in the screen that each has, both sport a 16 megapixel selfie sensor. Due to processor limitations, the Moto G9 Power can only capture video at a maximum resolution of FullHD at 60fps . On the contrary, his brother goes up a notch, being able to record video in 4K resolution at 30 fps.

Connections, battery and OS

In the connection section, neither is compatible with 5G networks, but both have other important connections such as NFC, Bluetooth or the prized 3.5mm headphone jack. The difference of the fingerprint sensor is that the Moto G9 Power places it on the back, while the Moto G9 Plus integrates it on the side. However, one of the big differences is in the battery, since the G9 Power reaches 6,000 mAh, compared to the 5,000 mAh of the G9 Plus. However, fast charging is more advanced in the latter, being compatible with 30W compared to its brother’s 20W. The two terminals move with Android 10, but its update to Android 11 is set for this year, although the firm has not yet specified the dates.

Difference in prices

Given the technical differences, it’s time to take a look at the prices. At Amazon we can find a Moto G9 Plus for only 199 euros, while the Moto G9 Power is around 210 euros. As we can see, it is not an excessive difference. The Moto G9 Plus proves to have a little more muscle in sections such as the camera, the screen or the processor, so being cheaper than the Moto G9 Power, the Plus model may be more worthwhile.
