The mid-range of 2020 has left us great launches. Brands like Xiaomi or Motorola know how to do it very well in the price range of less than 300 euros. For this reason, we wanted to take a close look at the Moto G 5G, compared to one of its rivals such as the Poco X3 , to see in detail its main differences.
It is not difficult to fight with Xiaomi when it comes to quality / price. The Chinese firm makes a large number of launches per year, whose models tend to overlap each other and put those who want to opt for one model or another in serious trouble. Motorola for its part, and with the help of Lenovo, continues to “pull” gallons and brand prestige to form a solvent mid-range with its cheapest 5G terminal to date.
- Moto G 5G
- Little X3
Screen and dimensions
When we look at the screen of both terminals we see one of the clear differences between the two. The Moto G 5G sports a large 6.7-inch panel, with FullHD + resolution and a standard refresh rate of 60 hz. The Poco X3 also has a generous screen, which drops to 6.67 inches with the same resolution but with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Both have the same screen ratio of 20: 9 and IP protection against water ( IP52 on the Moto and IP53 on the Xiaomi terminal)

Both sport a hole in the screen to house the selfie sensor, but the Moto G 5G achieves a better ratio between the frames and the screen, with 85.7% compared to 84.6% of its rival . In terms of weight and thickness, Motorola also takes the featherweight award with its 9.9 millimeters thick and 212 grams, compared to the 9.4mm of the Poco X3 and its 215 grams of weight.
Processor and memory
When we lift the hood of both terminals, we see another of the most notable differences. The Moto G 5G sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G, which enables it to connect to 5G networks, something that the Poco X3 cannot do with its Snapdragon 732G. The Moto G 5G offers a variant of 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, compared to the Poco X3 that has versions of 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage.

However, if we take a look at a benchmark program like AnTuTu, we see that the Motorola, with a lower version of 4 GB RAM memory, manages to reach 330,000 points, compared to the slightly more than 300,000 points achieved by the Poco X3. with 6 GB of RAM. The difference is not huge, but it shows that the Moto’s processor performs somewhat better.
Very different cameras
Turning them around, we see two very different bets in the cameras section. The Moto G 5G sports three rear sensors with a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The Poco X3 for its part, raises this bet with four sensors, with a 64 megapixel main lens, a 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor, and macro and depth sensors of two megapixels each.

On the front, and housed in the hole of each no, we see that the Moto G 5G sports a 16 megapixel selfie sensor, while the Poco X3 once again has a 20 megapixel selfie sensor. Regarding video recording, it should be noted that the two terminals can capture video in 4K resolution , but only the Moto does it at a maximum of 60 fps, while the Poco does it at a maximum of 30 fps.
Connections, battery and OS
As we mentioned at the beginning, only the Moto G 5G can connect to 5G networks, but both have the most basic connections such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 5.1 or NFC for mobile payments. They also have FM radio and USB-C connection. The fingerprint sensor is located on the back on the Motorola, and on the side on the Poco.

In the battery we find a minimal difference in terms of capacity, with the 5,000 mAh of the Moto G 5G compared to the 5,160 mAh of the Poco X3 . However, the fast charging technology is 33W in the Xiaomi terminal compared to 20W in the Moto. This will finish charging 62% of its capacity in about 30 minutes. The two are running on Android 10, but are expected to receive their share of Android 11 soon.
Price matters
Once the differences are seen, we have to finish the game by looking at the price of both devices. The Motorola Moto G 5G is sold in a single version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage for 249 euros . Its advantages are a higher capacity processor, 5G connectivity, and a larger and more tight screen. For its part, the Poco X3 starts at 229 euros in its variant of 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, with the advantages that we have seen previously in sections such as the cameras, the battery or the refresh rate of its screen.
