We are nearing the end of 2020 , a strange year for the vast majority that has given us more displeasure than happiness. But it is nearing its end and now it is time to collect data, at least and as far as we are concerned, for example on the market penetration of the versions of the Windows 10 system.
Microsoft continues to work to bring us the latest versions of its operating system in the best possible way. In fact and for a few weeks, users are receiving the 20H2 or October 2020 Update. But despite the fact that it has been with us for a few weeks, perhaps its growth is being slower than expected, something common in most cases.

So, to give us an idea, we are going to end the year and Windows 10 October 2020 Update currently has a market share of 13.6%. At first, these data might be thought to be not bad at all. But of course, everything will depend on what we compare them with. For example, if we focus on the immediately previous version of Windows, which was released in spring 2020 , it reaches a penetration of 40.4.
Windows 10 2004 ends the year at the top in use
Therefore and as expected, this specific 2004 version of the Redmond system will end the controversial 2020 as the most used Windows 10 . It is still well above the latest OS release, as the data published by AdDuplex shows.
But that is not the most striking of all. We tell you this because the current 20H2 is not even close to second place in terms of use right now. This position is held by a previous 19H2 or October 2019 Update , since it still has a percentage of use of 33.2%. Thus, as we see, despite being more than a year old, that version of Windows is still widely used throughout the world.

As a curiosity, we will also tell you that Windows 10 exceeded the figure of 1,000 million active users last March. This includes, in addition to computers as such, other devices that run a Windows 10-based system such as the Xbox console or the HoloLens.
Penetration of other versions of Windows
Also around 0.3% of PCs at the moment are running Windows 10 in its Insider Preview versions. Keep in mind that these are the ones in charge of helping Microsoft in the development and improvement of the operating system through those Insider versions before they reach the whole world.
Changing the third, at this moment only 1.7% of the computers are running with the version of Windows 10 April 2018 Update or version 1803. In addition, what could be considered the worst update of Windows 10, the October 2018 or 1809, has already fallen to 1.5% market penetration.
Now we only have to wait for the evolution that little by little we imagine that the latest version of the system will have. But seen the seen, it will probably still be a while until it surpasses its two predecessors.
