Mobile Sales: Xiaomi Eats Huawei in Europe and OPPO Scares

The day that Huawei feared so much and that Xiaomi expected so much has come. A few days ago we saw how the Chinese brand dethroned Apple as the third global mobile phone seller after the delay in the presentation of the iPhone 12 and now something similar happens in Europe, but changing Apple for Huawei.

Mobile Sales: Xiaomi Eats Huawei in Europe

Xiaomi ousted Apple from the podium of the top three smartphone makers for global shipments in the third quarter, at the same time that Samsung regained first place and Huawei held a comfortable second position despite its problems with Google.

Canalys noted that Xiaomi’s shipments increased 45 percent year-on-year, placing 47.1 million units in the last quarter globally. However, on a continental level, there are subtle differences between the brands.

Huawei falls in Europe and Xiaomi takes advantage of it

The same analysis company highlights that Huawei experienced a 32 percent drop in shipments in Europe in the third quarter, while those of Xiaomi increased 107 percent. This has meant that Huawei falls to fourth place with a market share of 12% while Xiaomi remains above, in third place, with 13% of the pie.

In the higher positions there are no changes. As is the case worldwide, in Europe the main seller of mobile phones continues to be Samsung , with a 36% market share and experiencing a slight increase in sales of 6%. Apple also grows 13% in Europe, allowing it to remain in a comfortable second place with a 25% share.

This is the big change compared to global sales, where Apple has fallen to fourth place and Huawei remains in second place thanks to its strong presence in China, its country of origin.

OPPO explodes

Another manufacturer that receives great news is OPPO . The brand landed not long ago in Europe and Spain with great phones like the OPPO Find X2 under the arm or, the most recent, OPPO Reno4. This has meant that it has grown a lot in a short time and although it only has a market share of 4%, its explosion in sales of close to 1000% helps it to settle into the 5th largest seller in Europe.

Below these five manufacturers would be VIVO , who also landed in Europe last month with the firm intention that the analyzes stop including him within the “other sellers” segment and fight the rest of the companies.
