Screenshots have become one of the most useful features on today’s smartphones. We receive so much information on a daily basis that being able to capture what we are seeing to share or save for later is essential for many users. But like any function, its evolution is also taking place, as demonstrated by the new function that Xiaomi prepares to take screenshots in MIUI 12.
It was last week when Xiaomi officially presented MIUI 12 and all the mobiles that this new layer of customization will reach in Europe . As is usually common, initially it will be based on the current version of Android, that is, Android 10, to later make the jump to Android 11, which must still be presented by Google.
A new and more precise method
Meanwhile, the MIUI 12 beta is still running, allowing developers to find hidden features, which were not announced by Xiaomi because they were considered less relevant, or because they are intended to roll out later. The last one we have just discovered thanks to a developer of the XDADevelopers forums, who has revealed the new way of taking screenshots on Xiaomi phones, which will be implanted in all probability in future beta versions of MIUI 12 and in the version stable later.
As you can see in the video that was created for the occasion when showing the new function, the user will be able to capture a partial area of the screen , drawing around the desired area. The screenshot editor can be activated by long-pressing the start button for just over a second. Then you can find three options in the upper right corner that allows free drawing, or rectangle or circle shapes around the target area of the capture.
Once the shape is chosen, the selected area will be highlighted and the options will be obtained to re-capture, share the current capture, edit it or save it in the gallery. There is even a fourth option that allows you to make the selection again if you are not satisfied. This new function allows greater precision in the screenshots of Xiaomi mobiles. At the moment it has been released as part of the MIUI 12 20.5.25 version and we do not know for sure if it will be implemented in the first mobiles that receive the stable version at the end of June.
