Foldable smartphones began to take their first steps in 2019. However, the source code of the new Chinese MIUI 12 beta for the Mi 10 Pro has revealed new details about a Xiaomi foldable device. On this occasion it was the user “kacskrz”, a veteran of the XDA forums who has scrutinized the code of this new version, finding the code code “Cetus” which is described in one of its values as a “FoldAbleDevice”, that is, a folding smartphone. In addition, it is accompanied by a large number of codes that refer to screen folds, and changes in the folding status, which confirm what type of product we are facing.
Everything indicates, except for a capital surprise, that Xiaomi’s folding mobile will be well into 2021, as the probable date of presentation, in the event that the company decides to debut in this world. The same source reveals that it will be a mobile with Android 11 as standard, a 108 megapixel camera and the latest and most powerful Qualcomm processor at the time of its launch, with the Snapdragon 875 being the most likely candidate. At the moment there is no more data on this device. It is also not very clear if it is an evolution of the concept that Xiaomi already showed last year, or a totally different product.
