Mid-range Mobiles Will Be More Powerful in 2021 with MediaTek

A high-end processor, synonymous with power and energy efficiency . This is something that happens in many markets and that for a few years, has its particular battle in smartphones. Everyone assumes that if you want maximum power in Android, you should look for a terminal with the latest Snapdragon, Exynos or Kirin. However, in the last two years, the resurgence of MediaTek is drawing a lot of attention, in that the Taiwanese company had been relegated to the development of entry-level chips, and now it is back in the elite.

More Powerful in 2021 with MediaTek

When a manufacturer bets on MediaTek, they know that their terminal costs will be considerably lower than if they bet on Qualcomm. About two years ago, when MediaTek began to launch the new Helio, and Xiaomi opted for them, the ghosts of warm-ups and poor performance appeared again, of which no one remembers today. Right now, MediaTek has made 5G terminals cheaper, while also launching flagship processors such as the Dimensity 1000 Plus.

Thanks to the low cost of MediaTek

However, and according to the famous Chinese newsletter “Digital Chat Station”, MediaTek is preparing a new blow on the table, to give more power to many budget smartphones from 2021. Reportedly, the new processor will be manufactured in a 6nm process and will be available before the end of the year. This processor would have the same architecture as the 5nm Exynos 1080, that is, it would be made up of an Arm Cortex-A78 CPU with a 2.8Ghz frequency, three Cortex-A78 cores with a 2.7Ghz frequency, and four Cortex- A55 running at 2.0Ghz.

The most revealing news is that this processor would have achieved scores higher than 650,000 points in the famous AnTuTu performance program. This means that next year’s mid-range mobiles could rival today’s high-end processors. The forecasts are that this chip can be integrated in terminals that could not exceed 300 dollars. Although, it would be the clear bet of many Chinese manufacturers, even Huawei seems to have an ideal ally in MediaTek to solve its supply problems for the Kirin chips.

A vitaminized medium range

It should be remembered that some industry analysts have already predicted a good future for mid-range mobiles in 2020 . Due to the covid-19 pandemic, these devices could experience an increase in performance, maintaining or slightly raising their price, at the expense of the high-end range, which is not profitable for many manufacturers, nor affordable for many users.
