Make Instagram not TikTok: the trick to go back to the past

There are many users who think that Instagram was better several years ago, when Reels did not exist and the feed appeared in chronological order instead of by logarithmic reasons. There are those who have been asking Meta for quite some time for the possibility of changing this last option, since content often appears that they are not interested in and today it is a reality.

It was a matter of a few months ago when the American company included a function in the application to see the order of the publications chronologically . However, the vast majority of those who use the platform are completely unaware of how to access it, so we are going to help you discover it.

Choose the order of Instagram content

To see Instagram posts chronologically, you have to go back to 2016, because that was when Meta (Facebook at the time) decided to remove this option. Criticism was not long in coming from the entire community of the app, especially because you can miss posts from accounts you follow due to the work of the algorithms and even a large number of users threatened to delete their Instagram account.

This has led the company to bring back this option, although, in reality, it is far from what we knew 6 years ago. This is because it is not an alternative like on Twitter, where you yourself can select between the most recent posts or those recommended by the application.

Instagram

However, the purpose is practically, since the difference is that you have to access a specific section of Instagram to consult the content according to the time of publication. Here are the steps to follow for this:

  1. Open Instagram on your mobile.
  2. Tap the app’s name, which appears next to an arrow pointing down in the top left corner.
  3. This will bring up a small menu where there are two options. Choose “Following” to see all posts from the accounts you follow.

In this section you will find what the users you are interested in have uploaded and best of all, they do it in chronological order. So there is not much difficulty in accessing this function, although perhaps it would be better if they appeared directly when opening the app.

Mark in favorites

The return of this option on Instagram brought back another one called “Favorites” which, as you can guess, shows the posts of those accounts that you have previously marked as favorites. This is a great addition if you only want to see what the most interesting users have uploaded . If you want to mark a profile as a favorite you have to do the following:

Instagram

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Repeat the same process that we have previously reported, that is, tap on the logo.
  3. This time you should select the “Favorites” tab.
  4. Click on “Add favourites” and mark the accounts you want to include in this section.
  5. If you want to do the same when this message no longer appears, tap on the icon that appears in the upper right where there are three lines with three stars.
