macOS Big Sur does not stand out for being a very stable version. Since its launch in beta phase in mid-2020, it has been observed that it had a very different development calendar than iOS or iPadOS. This is mainly due to the large bugs that have been related to the performance and the general stability of the system. And there are many problems that we have been able to detect today in macOS Big Sur that we tell you below.
Bugs fixed in past updates
The theory dictates that with each update that comes from macOS Big Sur everything will get better. And this is a truth that remains half unfortunately for all Mac users. Although it is true that bugs are corrected in the updates , this does not mean that new ones appear as we are going to comment here. But in order to recap, we must remember that past updates such as macOS 11.2 arrived with numerous patches. These included important bugs related to connecting to external displays on Mac minis with M1 as well as problems editing photos in ProRAW format.
A priori it is quite common for versions to contain errors since none can be perfect even if it is the dream of any company. This is where the importance of always having the operating systems updated to the latest version available at that time lies. Among the bugs that we have been able to find, the unexpected restart of applications on Intel equipment stands out, something that can undoubtedly have harsh consequences when losing work. But it is that as soon as you start using the Apple computer you will also suffer some other bug, since the Mac may take time to turn on after restarting as in the previous case in Intel only.
And although we have previously said that macOS 11.2 ended up solving a problem on Mac mini M1s and external displays, this has been reproduced again. Right now there are many users who can observe visual problems on the screen connected to the Mac such as dull pixels . And if that were not enough, if you have a MacBook with an Intel processor it is also possible that you suffer problems in the autonomy being reduced, something that will make you go through the charger in a much more frequent way.
In the next few weeks an update may finally be released that will solve all these problems. The downside will be that these will not be the last bugs that we should comment on in macOS.
