There is life beyond Microsoft software, and LibreOffice is one of the best examples of it. This totally free, open source and multiplatform office suite offers us an alternative to Office that has nothing to envy the Microsoft suite. The Document Foundation suite has everything you need to write documents, create spreadsheets and slide shows, as well as being compatible with Office documents, so that we can work without problems on any PC.
The support of this office suite is excellent. Every so often, its developers release updates focused on either adding new functions and features, or fixing bugs and errors to improve its performance.

A few hours ago, The Document Foundation announced the release of LibreOffice 7.1.4 , 5 weeks after the arrival of 7.1.3. This is the new version of the suite that focuses on correcting errors detected by developers and users, and also improves compatibility with all types of documents created with Microsoft programs. An important update that, if you are a user of this suite, you cannot miss.
What’s new and changed in LibreOffice 7.1.4
The new version 7.1.4 of LibreOffice is the fourth minor update of version 7.1 of this suite. This type of update does not stand out for bringing great news to the suite, but is mainly focused on correcting all kinds of bugs, errors and problems detected that affect the correct operation of the suite.
In total, this new update corrects 79 errors and bugs detected in the main programs that make up this suite, that is, Writer, Calc, Draw and Impress. Most of the errors affected the stability of the programs and their reliability. Now LibreOffice is more stable than ever.
Of these 79 errors, 16 errors were related to the compatibility functions when opening and saving documents using the Microsoft DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, and even DOC formats.

Once the suite is updated, all programs will continue to work without problems.
Download or update
The new version of this suite is now available, free of charge, for all users who want to download it. We can find the installers for this new version on their website . However, although LibreOffice has a built-in updater, it takes some time for it to show the new versions via OTA . Therefore, the best option is to download and install the new version manually.
Thanks to this update, version 7.1 is becoming one of the most stable in order to encourage users who still use version 7.0.5 (which has not been supported for a few days) to update to this new branch. The upcoming LibreOffice 7.1 update will most likely force users from the 7.0 branch to move to the 7.1 branch. If all goes well, this version should reach users around mid-July of this year.
Meanwhile, the development of LibreOffice 7.2 continues , the next version of the suite that will bring many changes, improvements and news to its users, such as the function finder that we were able to test a few weeks ago. At the moment, we do not know when this new version will be available for download beyond the Nightly branch.
