Our mobiles are increasingly better processors, more capacity and are increasing their possibilities to offer us a real alternative to computers. We had seen how Samsung presented its Dex connection method, but now with the arrival of Android 10 to LG smartphones, we found similar possibilities.
Recently some smartphones of the LG company have begun to receive the ration of Android 10, among which is the LG G8 , the flagship smartphone to date of the company. An update that has been received by users with open arms to know all the new possibilities they receive, although the list did not mention something that until now we did not know.
Desktop mode reaches LG smartphones
By surprise and without anticipating it, the smartphone that already has Android 10, can connect your smartphone to a monitor or television through a USB Type C cable to HDMI and the option of using the LG’s own desktop mode will appear. With this important improvement, we can make use of all our storage and applications on a larger screen , also having the comfort of our keyboard and mouse.
With this integration, LG joins Samsung who showed us Samsung Dex , the desktop mode that in the first instance needed an accessory but was later released to work with only the cable we mentioned for LG. By using this desktop mode, we have the possibility to organize our applications to our liking, creating a different home screen than the one we can find on the mobile screen.
Other companies could create their desktop mode
Google has been working in desktop mode for some time , allowing any manufacturer to adopt it or even use it on Android Stock-based mobiles. Although for now this functionality has not been released, we can see how LG or Samsung have been ahead of the competition. This would be the first step, since once Google releases all the possibilities, we could see how the rest of the companies adapt their personalization layers to the desktop, making us not even need a computer.
The world of technology could change completely, so that we don’t need laptops and move on to base our mobile experience, something I don’t know if we’re still ready. It’s hard to imagine layers like MIUI on a computer , but it could be much closer than we think.
