Launch of iOS 14 Beta 2 and Other Operating Systems

After the launch of the first betas of iOS 14 and the rest of the operating systems after WWDC 2020, the company from the apple has already made official the launch of the second beta versions for developers. iPadOS 14, macOS 11 Big Sur and the rest also have their corresponding new versions already available. Here we tell you everything you should know about them.

Beta 2 of iOS 14, as stable as the first?

As we said, it is not only the second betas of iOS 14 that have been released, but also those of the rest of Apple‘s operating systems. However, the one that attracts the most attention is that of the iPhone, not because of being the most widely used device of all, but because of the tremendous stability that the first version had. It is completely normal that in a beta there are bugs such as unexpected restarts, apps that do not work, higher battery consumption and some lag when moving around the system, even more so if we are in the first version of a large version such as the actual.

Launch of iOS 14 Beta 2

Surprisingly, the first developer version of iOS 14 was barely flawed . In some banking applications, a problem could be noticed, as well as a certain tendency for the iPhone to overheat. However there was hardly a trace of the typical bugs mentioned above, many developers and users acknowledging that this is probably one of the best betas ever . That is why the second brings with it this question of whether it is equally stable or not. At the moment it seems to follow the same line as the first one and it is accompanied by a series of bug fixes according to what was reported in the first weeks with beta 1.

And in the other versions?

macOS Big Sur Safari

The second betas of iPadOS 14, macOS 11 Big Sur, watchOS 7 and tvOS 14 also bring new features in terms of error resolution. In the case of the iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV something similar happened to what was seen in iOS 14 in terms of stability, however it was not so in macOS Big Sur. This new version of the Mac system brings with it very important news and that therefore represents a greater change in its code. It is for this reason that in this operating system we find more failures than seen in the others, but the truth is that it is not excessive compared to what was seen on other occasions. In any case, all the second betas come to provide greater stability and follow the same line of usual improvement so that in September or October all users can receive highly refined official versions.

How to install beta 2 of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14

First of all, it is worth warning, as always, about the risks of installing these versions. Regardless of whether they are public or developer betas, bugs are present. Yes, we have previously commented that these are very stable versions, but that does not mean that failures may appear from time to time. Therefore, we do not usually recommend installing these versions on main computers that are used on a daily basis. If you are going to install these betas on a secondary device or assume this risk, we will tell you what to do. If you already have beta 1 installed, you just have to go to Settings> General> Software update and download the second beta as if it were any other version. If this is going to be your first time, you should follow these steps:

  • Make a backup of your device.
  • From the device to which you want to install the beta, go to the betaprofiles website.
  • In the different cards that you will find, look for iOS / iPadOS.
  • Press the blue ‘Download’ button.
  • You will be asked for permission to download the developer profile, accept it.
  • Go to Settings> General> Profile and accept the conditions to install it.
  • Restart the device.
  • Go to Settings> General> Software update and the beta 2 of iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 will be ready for download and installation.
