Although it is true that the powerful Galaxy S20 family is more recent, the Samsung Galaxy S10 is still one of the preferred phones on the market for its camera, long battery life, elegant design and many other features. If you are happy with yours and have no plans to change it in the near future (or if you are one of those who prefer to buy phones from previous generations and have just bought one), you will be interested in knowing some of the best tips and tricks for the Samsung Galaxy S10 to get more out of your phone.

How to find what you are looking for
If you switch to a Samsung phone from another manufacturer, you may find it difficult to find some of the features and options. Even if you’re used to Samsung phones, the menus can be unnerving. The good news is that you just have to search for what you need using the Finder. Go down the notification tab, touch the magnifying glass icon and type what you are looking for in the search bar. It generally works very well. By tapping the three vertical dots on the right, you can also change what the Finder displays and exclude certain apps from searches.
How to customize quick settings
By displaying the notification tab, you get easy access to the quick settings, but you don’t need to have the default settings. Touch the three vertical dots in the upper right and then Button Order and you can choose what to include and position it exactly where you want, which saves time. You can also make changes to the Button Grid to change the layout and status bar. We recommend activating the battery percentage in the status bar.
How to customize the app tray or get rid of it
You can swipe up from the bottom to open the app tray, but you don’t have to accept the default layout. Touch the three vertical dots in the upper right and you can sort the application icons and access the home screen settings. If you’d rather not have a separate app drawer, tap on Home Screen Layout and switch to Home Screen Only.
How to activate the smart popup view
The smart pop-up view is an option that allows certain applications to appear above others like Facebook Messenger does. You can find it in Settings> Advanced features> Smart popup view. Any application that has Multi-window support can be activated here, but we think it works best for messaging applications. When a new message arrives, you’ll see a round pop-up icon that you can tap to open a windowed version of the messaging app.
How to hide confidential files
Everyone has a photo they prefer to keep private, a sensitive file that they don’t want others to see, or a game or app they are ashamed of. Samsung allows you to hide any file in Secure Folder. To use it, simply drag the notification tab down and click on the Secure Folder icon in the quick settings. You will have to agree to the terms and set up a Samsung account (if you haven’t already), but once created, you will have a secure folder that you can only access with your PIN, password, pattern, or fingerprint. You can add individual applications or files and even hide the secure folder through Settings> Biometrics and security> Secure folder> Hide secure folder> OK. Once hidden, they can only be accessed by tapping the icon at the bottom of the screen in Settings> Biometrics & Security> Secure Folder .
How to turn off unnecessary sounds
By default, your Galaxy S10 will make small sounds each time you press and it can be quite tiring for you and everyone around you. All of these extra sounds and vibrations will affect battery life as well, so it’s best to turn them off. Go to Settings> Sounds and vibrations> System sounds and vibrations and turn off anything you don’t need.
How to customize the sound
Our hearing changes as we age, and we don’t all hear in the same way, so it’s a good idea to take advantage of Samsung’s sound customization options. Go to Settings> Sounds and vibrations> Advanced sound settings and you can decide when you want Dolby Atmos and play with the equalizer, but you should also select Adapt sound and choose an age range or configure a custom profile that suits your hearing.
How to use or disable the Edge screen
If you’re wondering what is that panel on the side or the Edge screen, or maybe you inadvertently slide it into the Edge screen menu, then you can always turn it off. Used correctly, it can be a very useful shortcut, but if you’re not using it, you can remove it as well. If you’re going to use it, take some time to configure it the way you want. Either way, you will have to go to Settings> Display> Edge Screen. We like Edge lighting, but we tend to turn off Edge panels.
How to take a screenshot
The standard Android screenshot method is to press the Power and Volume down keys simultaneously to take a screenshot and it works on the Galaxy S10 too. But Samsung also makes it easy to take a screenshot with a swipe gesture of your palm on the screen. You will find this option in Settings> Advanced features> Motions and gestures> Swipe to capture. By default, you’ll also find that screenshots open an edit menu at the bottom and you can select it to instantly edit your new screenshots, but if it’s something you never use, you can also disable it via Settings> Features. Advanced> Smart Capture.
How to extend battery life
The S10 range has impressive battery life, but there are always times when you want to extend the battery life. You’ll find the battery options in Settings> Device care> Battery. Here you can select a power mode and you can also access the battery usage to get an exact breakdown of the total power consumption.
How to hide the punch hole camera
You don’t like the punch hole camera? We recommend putting in a creative background that accommodates the forward-facing camera lens, or the lenses in the case of the S10 Plus. There is also another, less fancy way to hide the drill chamber on your S10. Go to Settings> Display> Full screen apps and turn on Hide front camera.
How to use Wireless PowerShare
If you want to take advantage of the wonders of wireless charging, then you should buy one of the best wireless chargers, but the generous ones may occasionally be willing to lend a friend some battery power and the S10 is equipped with the ability to share it. Just pull down the notification tab and tap on the Wireless PowerShare icon in quick settings. You will see a pop-up window on the screen and you can place another phone or device on the back of your S10 to charge it wirelessly. And you just have to tap Cancel when you’re done.
