We have all had our mobiles ring at some time or another at the least opportune moment, a situation that can lead to anger or other more serious problems. But, rest assured, because we bring you some settings so that nothing will happen if we forget to remove the audio from the phone. To do this, we are going to show you the best methods to control when your mobile is on sound or we want to automatically silence it, being able to choose between several forms of automation.
With this, in addition to saving us problems, we will avoid having to be aware of the sound configuration on our mobile and let the technology perform its functions by itself. Android mobiles make things much easier for us with their do not disturb mode, a tool that is very complete, just as we also find it on iPhones, but in both cases, we find ourselves with restrictions that we are also going to solve.

Silence your Android for days and hours
The simplest mode and for which we do not need any additional tools is the do not disturb option. This option allows us to choose between days and hours of the week to establish when our mobile goes silent or, on the contrary, when it is on sound. The functions are many and varied, so we will explain how to do it step by step:

- First of all, we go to Settings on our Android mobile.
- We look for the Sound option and then ‘Do not disturb’.
- We select our options for calls or messaging applications.
- Also, we can select exceptions for alarms or multimedia sound.
- Finally, we can choose how we will receive these silenced notifications, being able to choose not to show them even in notifications.
Once we have chosen how we want the do not disturb mode to work, we have to choose when it will work each day , that is, what days and hours we want to remove the Android sound automatically. This will be the programming that will allow us to live without worries of sound through the method of schedules.

- Within the do not disturb mode we will have to enter ‘Programming’.
- Here inside we will have some preset modes or we can create our own.
- First, we will choose the name of the schedule and start editing it.
- We choose the days of the week where we want it to work.
- Next, we select the start and end time.
- We can choose if the alarm overrides the do not disturb mode.
- In addition, we will be able to set specific behaviors for this programming different from the rest of the do not disturb options.
Do the same on iPhone
Within Apple phones we also find the function of programming the Do Not Disturb mode, which we find in the Concentration section (this will appear depending on the version of the operating system that you have installed on your smartphone).
Therefore, the first thing we should do is go to the settings> Concentration modes> Do not disturb> within Activate automatically, click on Add schedule or automation> Time. At that moment, it will take us to another menu in which we can choose at what time we will be able to automatically silence the mobile and at what time the sound will be activated. In addition, it will also let us choose which days of the week this same action will be repeated.

Mute sound based on location or Wi-Fi
We give way to a series of more advanced options, but simple to use, with which we can help ourselves with IFTTT, a programming service that allows us to automate actions on a mobile , as well as other services. The first thing we need is to download the app from the app store. Next, we log in with our Google account linked to our Android smartphone or iPhone and grant all the necessary permissions or else it won’t work.
We will walk you through the steps from an Android phone, but the steps will be similar for the iPhone as they have created the same automations for both smartphones. In addition, within Apple phones we find an extra function that will make our lives much easier.
On Android phones
The GPS of our mobile gains a new functionality, allowing us to be the key that we will use through IFTTT to decide where the sound will automatically be muted on the smartphone. We explain the steps you must follow:

- After having logged in with our account and activated all the permissions, we touch on ‘Explore’.
- In the search engine we write ‘mute Android work’, although we are not really going to use it only at work.
- We drag our finger to connect this IFTTT action and activate the new permissions.
- Click on ‘Goin to Location’ and select the place where our mobile will be silent in the map search engine .
- We choose if we want to activate or deactivate the vibration and click on ‘Done’.
In case we prefer our mobile to be silent or sound depending on the Wi-Fi to which it is connected, we have another IFTTT programming module designed for it. The steps are the following:

- Click on ‘Explore’ and search in the search engine for ‘mute my phone office WiFi’.
- We select the option and slide the button to connect it.
- Once it has finished we will have to touch in the upper corner on the adjustment wheel .
- Where it says Network name, we write the exact name of the Wi-Fi where we want our mobile to go silent.
- Finally, click on ‘Done’.
with an iPhone
The IFTT application can also be used in these terminals. Although, the option to mute the mobile when connecting to a Wi-Fi is not available. However, by location if we will find it, we only have to look in the ‘Explore’ section for the ‘ mute iPhone ‘ command.
But as we were saying, in iOS we find quite curious native functions. First, we will have to follow the steps that we gave you in the previous section of Apple phones, that is, go to settings> Concentration modes> Do not disturb and select the option Activate automatically, click on Add schedule or automation . In this way, we will have the opportunity to remove the sound of the iPhone by the location .
Within that section, you must click on Location > search for the address you want (you will have to activate the location of the iPhone by entering the Privacy section). With the bar that will appear below you can expand the range. Once you have configured it, click on the ‘Ok’ button.

But, if what you want is for the audio to be removed from the iPhone when Wi-Fi is connected , you must go to Shortcuts> Automation> Create a personal automation> look for the Wi-Fi option> select the network that you have saved in the terminal Apple> click on Add action> type Define concentration mode> Ok> where it says Deactivate, you will have to press it so that it changes to Activate. Then, you must choose until when by clicking on Deactivation: Given time, My exit, End of the event or Ask every time.
