KB5000842 Changes and Enhancements
This new quality patch introduces a large number of fixes and improvements to Windows Explorer . The update has fixed a number of performance issues affecting explorer.exe, the process responsible for the file explorer, taskbar, and action center. In addition, it has also eliminated “Computing Filters” messages when searching from the browser using filters. Searches, in addition to being faster and more accurate, are now no longer blocked. Do I install it or better wait?
Unlike security patches, which are downloaded and installed by themselves, these quality updates are not downloaded automatically, but we must download and install them by hand, if we want. Microsoft often uses users who download these updates as guinea pigs, testing them that everything works correctly before bringing the update to other users.
With the release of the April security patches, Microsoft will include these quality patches within them. Therefore, sooner or later, we will all end up applying the changes of KB5000842 on our PC.
