Google Pixel 7 Ultra: the third unknown smartphone and the most premium

A few weeks ago Google presented its new generation of smartphones, but this launch has been relegated to ostracism due to the latest rumors that have come to light. Leaks indicate that a Google Pixel 7 Ultra model is close to being born, which has generated enormous expectation in the community.

This is nothing new at all, since we have already seen information about this device on previous occasions. At the moment the Mountain View company has not confirmed any aspect of this issue, although it would not be surprising to see cases such as those of Samsung and Apple, two of the most powerful brands in the sector and that have a variant of this nature in their mobile range.

A new sensor for the Google Pixel 7 Ultra

Google’s source code has revealed that there is a third smartphone in the Google Pixel 7 line on the way, but it would not arrive alone. Among the data revealed by the Twitter informant known as Kuba Wojciechowski there is also a Mini and folding version of the US company’s phone.

The user indicates that the alleged Google Pixel 7 Ultra under the code name “Lynx” would equip an IMX712 camera sensor . It is a completely new lens that has not yet reached the market. It also points out that wireless charging support is practically guaranteed, but what is surprising about this terminal is that it will use a different chipset than the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 7, this time betting on a CPU from Qualcomm .

However, there is a certain aspect about the screen that raises doubts. Kuba has found a reference to the panel of this top of the range Google and everything seems to indicate that it would have a 1080p resolution and that it would not reach 2K, but 120 Hz. The leaker points out that it could be a supposed Pixel Mini that also we had seen information.

It is definitely a lower end part than the S6E3HCx parts used on the Pixel Pro series. It appears that the chip is capped around 1080p @ 120Hz. This could potentially mean that Lynx is getting a lower resolution panel (perhaps it is the rumored “mini” Pixel?).

This possibility should not be ruled out, but it would be quite strange if the Mini model boasted a 120 Hz refresh rate and the Google Pixel 7 base version stayed at 90 Hz. In any case, for this Ultra variant to stay at a resolution FullHD + is somewhat disappointing considering the top alternatives of the competition and that the Pixel 7 Pro does the same with a 2K panel .

An unknown unknown

The source code shows a 120Hz refresh rate for a supposedly Mini model, but this makes no sense when you take a look at the Google Pixel 6a. A reduced performance device that stays at 60 Hz . So this decision by Google would not make much sense.

On the other hand, there is not much more information about the folding Pixel than what we saw a few weeks ago. The premium smartphone of the great G would have a triple camera module along with a double 120 Hz screen , while the maximum brightness would reach 1,200 nits. At the moment it remains to wait for Google itself to express itself on the issue that is giving so much to talk about.
