What’s new in Audacity 3.0
To be a version change (from 2.x to 3.0), the list of changes and news is not particularly large. Although we can highlight some relevant changes that have come to the program. The first of these is the arrival of the new .aup3 extension for the projects that we create and save with this new version of Audacity. When we run it for the first time, the program will ask us if we want to automatically associate this extension to the program in order to open the projects with a double click. It is a major change coming to the program, and this will be the main reason for the version numbering change. Of course, compatibility with the old .aup format is maintained .
A large number of internal changes have also been included in the program. These changes have made all the editing of the audio files faster , but, on the other hand, the saving is considerably slower. The database has also been updated to use SQLite3.
Another novelty in this new version is a new analyzed ” Label Sounds ” capable of labeling noises and silences. The noise reduction effect has also been improved.
Finally, indicate that more than 160 errors detected in previous versions have been corrected.
