When Microsoft announced the new Windows 11 that many of us can already enjoy, it surprised most. The main reason for this is that Windows 10 was originally expected to be the latest version of the firm’s operating system. Now the same could be working on the new Windows 12.

We tell you all this because the first rumors are beginning to be read that Microsoft could be developing Windows 12. Despite the fact that after its presentation those from Redmond claimed that Windows 10 would be the last and definitive version of Windows, last year it launched Windows 11. Well now rumors suggest that the company is already working on the next version.
For this, the company would plan to abandon part of the old Windows base that is part of all versions of the system, including Windows 11. Of course, at the moment Microsoft has not confirmed any of this, so the information available is scarce. But with everything and with it, these are some of the most important changes that the new version of the system would bring. One of them lies in the operation of user accounts . It must be said that the latest versions of Windows 11 already require a Microsoft Account for its configuration. Therefore, this change could be a preview for the next version of Windows.

On the other hand, we would have to talk about Pluton , a security chip that the company has developed in collaboration with AMD, Intel and Qualcomm. To give you an idea, unlike TPM chips, this one is integrated directly into the CPU . Thus, the architecture limits or eliminates certain forms of attack that are launched against current equipment with TPM chips.
More security and internal renewal in Windows 12
Note that Windows-based PCs running Pluto will use this security processor to protect credentials, user identities, encryption keys, and personal data. This information cannot be removed from the chip, even if the attacker has installed malware or has remote control of the PC.
This is achieved by storing the aforementioned sensitive data securely within the Pluton chip. It is isolated from the rest of the system and helps ensure that new attack techniques cannot access all of it. Additionally, it also offers Secure Hardware Cryptography Key or SHACK technology , to ensure keys are never exposed outside of protected hardware.

As we mentioned before, Microsoft will probably abandon the old foundations of Windows and support for old features. Mind you, it’s unlikely that the company will remove major backwards compatibility features or plan to bet even more heavily on a new Universal Windows Platform .
We must bear in mind that Windows 10 is currently supported by Microsoft until 2025. Similarly, Windows 11, which was launched last year, does not yet have an end date. At the same time feature updates last for two years for home users. With this we want to tell you that in the event that Windows 11 receives support for 10 years, the same will happen for the recently released version until the end of 2031 . So Windows 12 is likely to launch shortly before then if Microsoft sticks with its strategy.
