With the purpose of curbing the spread of the coronavirus, Apple announced the creation of two face masks to deliver to its employees: the Apple Face Mask and the Apple ClearMask.

The personal protective accessories were made by the same teams that work on the designs of iPhone phones and iPad tablets, Bloomberg said .

According to the report, Apple’s retail and corporate employees will begin receiving the masks within the next two weeks.

Apple ClearMask is the first completely clear mask approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The shield covers the entire face, but is transparent, so people who are deaf or hard of hearing can understand what the user is saying.

On the other hand, the Apple Face Mask consists of three layers, like those commonly sold, and can be reused up to five times after each wash.

It has adjustable straps and is designed to cover the nose without fogging up the glasses, according to Mac Rumors.

Since Apple Stores began to reopen after the coronavirus-forced closure, customers visiting the stores have been given basic surgical masks. It’s unclear whether Apple will provide these items to them as well.

Apple began manufacturing face shields in April to distribute to frontline healthcare workers battling COVID-19, Digital Trends adds.

Apple CEO Tim Cook previously described the initiative as a “company-wide effort that brings together product designers, engineering, operations and packaging teams, and our suppliers to design, produce and ship face shields for health workers ”.
