There is less and less for Apple to present its new 2020 iPhone. This year everything is going with a certain delay due to the health circumstances that are experienced around the world, but it seems that October is already the month marked by the company for a new presentation and launch of first units. We remember that there will be four devices that the company announces, perhaps the smallest being the one that generates the most doubts, the so-called iPhone 12 mini. In this article we analyze how this little guy could be.
iPhone 12 mini in full color and, without 5G?
Since the iPhone X was launched in 2017, many users who are fans of small phones have called for a small version with this front design. Being able to have the look of a modern iPhone in a size similar to that of the first generation iPhone SE could go from being a claim to a reality in the coming weeks. Some leaks have already ensured that iPhone 12 mini will be the name chosen by Apple for this team, adopting for the first time the nickname ‘mini’ for a smartphone after having already done so in its range of iPad and Mac.
TecniPhone, a Venezuelan technical service specialized in Apple, recently shared a concept video of this device created by concept_gunho on its Twitter account . We understand that it has been created by this designer based on rumors and that in no case can it be classified as something official. However, with everything that is already known about this new iPhone 12 mini, it must be said that the official one could not differ too much from this concept.
Although it is difficult to understand the perspective and dimensions of this phone in a video, we can intuit its small size. On the front we would find a device of only 5.4 inches , being the smallest iPhone with an ‘all screen’ design. On the sides we find the rumored flat edges with rounded corners, honoring the legendary iPhone 4 and 5 and the current iPad Pro and Air. The latter would also be a feature shared by the rest of this year’s iPhone. On the other hand, we find a rear with double camera and new colors very similar to those of the iPad Air, such as blue.
The bad news would come from a lack compared to its older brothers: 5G connectivity. This year it was expected that all Apple phones could include this technology after several years in development, but it seems that this model will be the exception. Probably the focus on a more demanding public is key in this, being able to also save on costs and therefore have a lower price than the rest. However, it is speculated that there could be a version with 5G in the coming months.
Possible price and availability
We talked about the price in the previous section and, despite the fact that nothing is officially known yet, it could be below the price of the iPhone 11 . That is to say, it could be priced lower than $ 699 and € 809. If it does not go down, a considerable rise is not expected compared to those marked figures. We do not know if this will lower the price of the second generation iPhone SE and if Apple will keep the iPhone XR and 11 in its product line, although one of the two could already disappear.
Regardless of when Apple’s special event to present its new iPhones is announced, this ‘mini’ model might not be on the market until November. The information closest to the supply chain has pointed out that the first devices to go on sale would be 6.1-inch (iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro), with October as the date marked. Therefore, this 5.4-inch terminal could come later accompanying the 6.7-inch (iPhone 12 Pro Max).
