iPhone 12 Battery: Capacities of the Four Models

iPhone 12 Battery: Capacities

We already know that the battery capacity of an iPhone is not always a guarantee of good or bad autonomy, since in Apple devices it is managed differently than an Android and they are even capable of providing more hours of use with batteries of less mAh. However, we believe that it is always interesting to know these data and now that the four new iPhone 12s have already been presented, we believe that it is a good time to know what their internal batteries are like.

Apple reduced the capacity of the iPhone 12

If we focus on logic and what all companies usually do, we would think that the new iPhone 12 have increased their battery capacity compared to their predecessors. However, Apple is also going the other way around in this sense and, surprisingly, they offer a lower capacity in their 2020 devices. Although it is true that the company has not given data this year either, we have been months with several leaks that suggested it and now diverse indicative have arisen that show it. Specifically these are the capabilities:

iPhone 12

  • iPhone 12 mini has 2,227 mAh.
  • iPhone 12 has 2,775 mAh, 335 mAh less than iPhone 11.
  • iPhone 12 Pro has 2,775 mAh, 271 mAh less than iPhone 11 Pro.
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max has 3,687 mAh, 282 mAh less than iPhone 11 Pro Max.

It should be noted that the iPhone 12 mini is not compared to any other because it is the first model of this range that we see in the iPhone. Also noteworthy is the fact that the iPhone 12 Pro, despite growing in size compared to the 11 Pro, has less capacity. Identical case to the ‘Pro Max’, although this went from 6.5 inches to 6.7 without this being a very big change.

Battery lasts the same as last year

As we said before, Apple manages to manage the battery capacities of its devices very well thanks to its processors and adapted software. This year, with iOS 14 and an A14 Bionic chip, the company has achieved the same autonomy as the iPhone 11. This is possibly a compelling reason why the company does not offer data on these batteries, since it can be misleading. see lower capacities.

We do not know the reason why Apple implemented smaller batteries in these phones, but given the good management that the processor makes of them, a question comes to mind: Why didn’t they expand the batteries and have achieved even better autonomy? In fact, it could have been an excellent asset for these devices. If the 11 Pro Max has already managed to be one of the teams with the best autonomy on the market, possibly a 12 Pro Max with more capacity would have managed to maintain this position.
