The first iPhone 12 began to reach their owners last Friday, and the first tests that measure the resistance of Apple‘s new phones have not been long in coming. Both to falls and to water, two aspects that concern the owners of any mobile, due to what can happen accidentally.

These stress tests are usually common every time a phone hits the market, and the iPhone 12 is no exception. In this case, shock resistance has been measured from different heights of both the standard and the Pro models. Some models that should be especially resistant thanks to their new Ceramic Shield, the ceramic coating that protects the phone screen.
Drop on the screen and its glass back
The fragility of these high-end phones is usually twofold, since we are not only talking about how they can see how the glass on their screen breaks, but also the one that covers the phone from the back. This time the resistance level has been measured in the test carried out by EverythingApplePro thanks to three drop tests. The first one is done by dropping the phone from waist height , the next from head height . With both falls the damage is minimal . A small dent for the iPhone 12, while the Pro model loses the SIM tray and sees some pixels stop working.
But the serious thing comes with the fall from the top of a ladder, between two and three meters high . Here things get serious, we end up seeing how the back of both phones ends up jumping through the air, completely breaking their rear glass , although to a much lesser extent in the standard iPhone 12. In addition, the camera of this stops working completely, being without a doubt one of the worst damages that could suffer. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro holds up well and keeps both its camera and screen working. That does seem that the Ceramic Shield fulfills its mission , since the screen of both phones practically does not suffer significant damage, there are some breaks, but they have nothing to do with the one on the back.
How do they resist water?
We have seen another video, in this case from the same YouTube channel, in which they test the real water resistance of these phones. Although in this case both the standard 12 and 11 have been submerged.
And the result is quite interesting, since after testing with different depths, both phones have been submerged to almost ten meters deep . After 10 minutes at this depth, both terminals have not suffered any damage . We do not know logically in the long run if this dive will have consequences, but a priori they do not seem to suffer the slightest damage.
