iOS 15 and iPadOS 15: Rumored News on iPhone and iPad

The Apple Developer Conference is practically around the corner. The launch of the new generation of operating systems is expected as it could not be otherwise, including iOS 15 and iPadOS 154, which are undoubtedly the most anticipated as they are the most used. And despite the fact that there are still a few weeks left, the possible news that will be integrated by the main analysts at Apple are already being known. We tell you all the known details below.

The notification system would level up

Mark Gurman through Bloomberg has published an extensive report where he mentions the possible news that will be included in this new update. In this I will refer to an important renewal of the software focusing especially on the notification control system . On the iPad especially we could end up seeing an updated lock screen and greater protections in relation to privacy.

Going into more detail, Gurman points out that users could set different notification preferences. That is, the user will be able to choose between several options if they are driving, working or sleeping so that some notifications are emitted with sound and others not. Currently all of them can be silenced with the do not disturb mode but now you can be much more selective about what can sound and what not depending on the task that is being done. All this will be configurable from the control center itself on both iPhone and iPad.

Added to this is also the possibility of configuring automatic responses to incoming messages. All this will depend as in the previous case on the task you are doing at the moment. For example, if you are working you can customize an automatic response of the type ‘now I am working, you can write to me from 19:00’. This will make do not disturb mode much richer.

Visual changes expected in iPadOS

As we have mentioned above, rumors point to major changes in iPadOS on the aesthetic side. In particular, there would be plans to change the home screen in order to include widgets freely. Right now this is something that is limited only to iOS being on iPad limited to one side on the first screen. With this update, locations could be wherever the user wants. This is totally logical since the widgets on the iPad remain in the background by being ‘hidden’ having to force their use.

In addition to these relevant changes, the report points to changes in iMessage to act as a social network and a new privacy menu. The latter would clearly include information on all the data that the iPhone is collecting by third-party applications. This is something that is already being seen in iOS 14.5 but it is wanted to take it to a new level with iOS 15 whose name in class is ‘Sky’.

And if you are a fan of macOS, the truth is that Marc Gurman’s information does not show much hope of major changes. Right now, a minor update is in the works since last year we saw relatively big changes. Although for all this we will have to wait for WWDC 2021 and then the official launch that may arrive in September with the new iPhone.
