iOS 15.4 about to be released: its RC is now available

The broadcast of Apple‘s Peak Performance event has just ended, in which the company has presented us with new devices. However, the software is also the protagonist today and it is just a few minutes ago that the company released the RC of its following versions: iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, macOS 12.3, watchOS 8.5 and tvOS 15.4.

These versions are the final betas of these versions, which, in turn, could be the same ones that are released to the final public. At the moment, only those who already had one of the previous betas will be able to install these versions. The rest will have to wait another week to install them on their iPhone, iPad, Mac and company.

iOS 15.4 and company about to be released

Except surprise, next week they will be released

When Apple releases an RC, an acronym for Release Candidate, it is a clear indication that the versions for the final public are only a few days away from being released. And it certainly wouldn’t be strange if they were launched this week either, but everything indicates that it will be on Monday or Tuesday next week.

In fact, a revision of this RC is not ruled out, although beta 5 was already very bug-cleaned and it does not seem that this is going to cause problems. In any case, we will be waiting to inform you of everything, so that you can be among the first to install these new versions when they are officially ready.

The newest versions since September

Autumn is usually the time when Apple launches the largest number of new software, coinciding with the transition from one version to another (iOS 14 to iOS 15, macOS 11 to macOS 12, etc.). The intermediate versions are intended more for small improvements or simple security patches, but there are also versions with major changes, as is the case here.

These are some of the most outstanding features that will arrive with these versions:

  • Unlock with a mask without the need for Apple Watch, although only for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series.
  • New emojis that are made up of 32 new elements that are added to those we already had and will be available on all operating systems.
  • Universal Control is the feature that allows you to use the same keyboard and mouse between a Mac and an iPad, in the same way as between an iMac and a MacBook. After months of waiting, it will arrive with iPadOS 15.4 and macOS 12.3.
  • iCloud Keychain will now allow you to add additional notes to the keys and they will be recorded securely.
  • Shortcuts will receive a much-requested change with the removal of the notification banner every time one is run.
  • Customizing the gestures of the corners of the iPad will be a reality, allowing you to configure whether you want to open a quick note or take a screenshot.
  • Controlling the brightness of the Magic Keyboard on iPad will be a reality with iPadOS 15.4, all from Control Center.

Apart from these, there are other small novelties that are also interesting, such as the ease of access to SharePlay from the sharing menus or the already classic security patches that Apple regularly releases to keep devices safe.
