iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 Beta 3 for Developers

A new beta is now available for iOS and iPadOS developers. Specifically, the third test version of versions 14.5. As is usual, the one that has been released is available only for developers, while the public betas will arrive in the next few hours. Something else will have to wait to see the final versions available for the iPhone, so if you are reading this with interest to install it, you should know that you still cannot do it officially, although we will advance some of the news.

When will this version arrive on your iPhone and iPad?

Both iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 go hand in hand, so it is understood that they will arrive at the same time in their respective final versions. Although Apple has not officially commented on the possible dates, it is suspected that it is already this month when they are released to the public. The week of March 22 aims to be the indicated one, since it is also expected that at that time new Apple devices could be launched that already brought some of those serial versions, such as the renewed iPad Pro 2021. In any case We will be attentive to any information that gives new clues about the final date.

As far as news of these versions is concerned, at the moment nothing relevant has been found that had not been present in one of the two previous versions. We remember that some of the most outstanding news that we have been able to see in these betas are the following:

emojis iOS 14.5

  • It is now possible to unlock an iPhone with Face ID with a mask as long as you have an Apple Watch with watchOS 7.4 and this option has been enabled in the settings.
  • New emojis have been added including a burning heart, a face puffing with relief or a heart on fire. You can also customize the type of skin and hair of the paired emojis, as well as changes in some already existing such as headphones, now taking the form of AirPods Max. The syringe also changes and instead of being bloody it seems more focused on a vaccine, something appreciable in these times of pandemic.
  • It is now possible to connect Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 controllers to iPhones and iPads to play different video games that were previously compatible with past generation video game controllers.
  • Changes are introduced in some native apps such as Podcast, Reminders and Apple Music, highlighting some gestures added in the latter and visual changes in the other two.
  • 5G support for dual SIM is one of the most relevant innovations in connectivity.
  • The Scribble function is already in Spanish for those iPads that are compatible with Apple Pencil.

Beyond this we find interesting news such as the search for emojis on iPad, improvements in the Shortcuts app and more. Broadly speaking, these are the most relevant news that you should know when, according to the forecasts indicated above, there would be a few weeks before these versions are released.
