If Instagram does not let you enter your account, do this as soon as possible

If you can’t find any reason why you can’t get into your Instagram account, we’ll tell you why and how you can finally gain access.

There are many reasons why this could happen, from an occasional problem with the service not working, your connection being weak, or the app not being up to date (or even an update not working right). However, there may be other reasons why you can’t get into your account and we’ll give you some guidelines so you can finally get in.

If Instagram does not let you enter your account

Recover your password

If you do not remember your password, you can recover it from your mobile to be able to log in. This may be one of the first checks you do to make sure.

In the Android App:

  1. On the home screen, tap Get help signing in under Sign in. It can also ask you if you have forgotten the password
  2. Write your username, phone or email or click on Login with Facebook
  3. Click continue and follow the instructions
  4. You will receive an email to reset your password on your phone or email
  5. If you don’t see it, check your SPAM folder.

In the iPhone app:

  1. Click on Forgot your password above Sign in on the screen
  2. Click on User or phone
  3. Write your username, email or phone and click Next
  4. You will receive a link to reset your password
  5. Check your SPAM folder if it doesn’t appear

If this does not seem to be enough, follow the same steps, but instead of writing your username, mobile or email, you will go to the section where it says Do you need more help?

Check that you have not been blocked or hacked

It may simply happen that your account has been blocked because you have not complied with its terms and conditions , so it does not hurt to analyze it.

If you are 13 or older, post violent or discriminatory content, use the app for illegal purposes, or do something that is not allowed, you can contact Instagram to find out what is causing your ban and see if you can recover your account. Although that will only happen if they have been wrong, something that is quite unlikely.

If you suspect that you have been hacked , we recommend that you use the password reset options that we have indicated as soon as possible. If the access data to your account has changed, you will have an email where you can see how to reverse this change , so it is important to act as soon as possible. Check your mail to see if you find anything from Instagram and follow the steps that are indicated.

Other checks

If you do not find the solution in the previous sections, it is best to do the following:

  1. See if your Internet connection is not working well and try another network, for example, switching from WiFi to mobile networks or vice versa
  2. Make sure Instagram isn’t down , so you can look around the internet on services like Downdetector or wait a few minutes and try again
  3. Check that you have not written any wrong data
  4. The next thing is to restart the mobile to see if it is a temporary problem with your device
  5. Clear the cache to see if this works for you, although it would be enough to restart
  6. Update the app if there is an update pending or roll back to the previous version if you have done it recently and you suspect that this may be the problem
  7. Check that you have not recently installed an app that is not compatible with this
  8. Try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it
