Huawei has just introduced its latest generation of smartwatches in the vibrant city of Barcelona. We’ve had the privilege of testing the all-new Watch GT 4 for several weeks, and today, we’ll provide you with a comprehensive overview of this impressive smartwatch.

Huawei Watch GT 4, a step forward

Huawei’s journey into the world of circular-format smartwatches dates back to 2015 when the company recognized the allure of this design for users seeking a blend of tradition and technology. Over the years, Huawei has consistently improved its smartwatches, including the recently unveiled Watch GT 4, which carries forward this legacy.

We’ve been testing the 41 mm Silver version with a stainless steel strap featuring a link design, and it’s nothing short of stunning. The GT 4 boasts a premium design that strikingly resembles a traditional watch, making a significant impression. Notably, its thickness has been reduced to a mere 9.8 mm, significantly enhancing comfort—addressing one of Huawei’s historical challenges. While it’s marginally heavier than the 41 mm Apple Watch Series 8, the progress is evident.

In terms of performance, the Watch GT 4 shines. Even when paired with an iPhone, the communication between the smartphone and the smartwatch is flawless and instantaneous. The Huawei Health app serves as the control hub, providing access to device settings, watch face customization (an extensive selection awaits you), and comprehensive data tracking. Beyond timekeeping and notifications, the Watch GT 4 excels as a fitness companion, an aspect Huawei has focused on enhancing.

Fitness Features and Beyond

With its IP68 certification, the GT 4 boasts over 100 sports modes, including the addition of paddle tennis—a welcome inclusion. Daily health and movement monitoring, combined with Activity Rings tracking (calories burned, exercise duration, and standing activity), motivates users to achieve their fitness goals. The improved GPS accuracy (30% enhancement) ensures precise positioning during activities.

Notable improvements extend to heart rate monitoring, especially during high-impact activities, and sleep tracking, which now provides detailed insights into sleep cycles and respiratory irregularities during rest. Huawei has also introduced enhancements to the menstrual cycle calendar, integrating physiological indicators like heart rate during sleep, body temperature, and respiratory rate to predict and notify users about their menstrual periods—a valuable addition for female users.

Impressive Battery Life and User-Friendly Interface

Huawei continues its tradition of impressive battery life with the GT 4. The company estimates 14 days of battery life for the 46 mm model and 7 days for the 41 mm model—an impressive 20% improvement over the GT 3. In our tests, the 41 mm model lived up to its 7-day promise, even with continuous heart rate monitoring and moderate exercise.

The Watch GT 4 features a user-friendly interface, complemented by a stunning 1.32″ AMOLED display with exceptional visibility in daylight and impressive brightness.
