Huawei P50 Pro Would Arrive with Android and HarmonyOs

Among the most important launches of 2021, many eyes are on Huawei. The Chinese firm should present the new P50 series around March, as long as its plans follow the line of previous years. However, the United States veto is still active, and this causes many doubts about these devices. New information now suggests that the Huawei P50 Pro could offer hybrid versions between Android and HarmonyOS.

There is no doubt that Huawei has stepped on the accelerator in its quest to not depend on Google. The Chinese firm has had to use many of its resources to be able to shape HarmonyOS , its own operating system, which is already taking shape as a beta version for some of the mobiles in its catalog.

Now, a new information leak claims that the Huawei P50 Pro will arrive only with the HarmonyOS variant in China. In this market, the use and dependence on Google Services is marginal, so they will even welcome a development made almost à la carte for them with open arms, although it still has many reminiscences of the Google OS. However, the source states that the global variant of the P50 Pro, that is, the one that will supposedly reach other markets including the European one, will have the option of arriving pre-installed with Android or HarmonyOS pre-installed.

A Dual-Boot system?

If the information is true, we do not understand very well who should come to make this decision. The best option for the user would be to be able to choose the operating system when turning on the phone for the first time, and change it at each system reset, something complex but not impossible, although certainly unlikely. However, we are sure that a Dual-Boot version of the P50 Pro, would be more than attractive for many users, despite the technical complications that Huawei could suppose to launch a similar model.

Meanwhile, the technical specifications of the P50 Pro keep leaking. The terminal could arrive with the Kirin 9000 5nm processor, with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. It is believed to feature a 6.6-inch curved screen, while the Pro Plus variant is expected to hit 6.8 inches. There are still several months until Huawei presents the P50 series, but it is possible that the leaks continue to occur, revealing more technical data as well as doubts regarding the operating system.
