Huawei: How to Fix Multi Window Crashes in EMUI 10.1

As our mobile screens have grown in size, performing several tasks at the same time has made more sense than ever. Thanks to the layers of the different manufacturers, we can do two or even three things at the same time without the mobile getting messy and without taking our eyes off what is important. Huawei‘s mobiles with EMUI 10.1 added an interesting novelty, called “multiple windows” which is an evolution of the famous split screen.

Fix Multi Window Crashes in EMUI 10.1

The split screen allows you to perform multiple tasks at the same time, avoiding the hassle of switching between apps continuously. This takes advantage of the available space on the screen and we can, for example, watch a video while chatting with friends. With EMUI 10.1 Huawei has launched multiple windows, improving the experience, although it is basically the same function.

How the function is activated

Remember that to activate the function, we will have to open an application in full screen, and slide your finger from the left or right edge of the screen. Then we pause until a dock panel appears. The next step is to drag and drop a second application from the dock to view them on split screens. If we also want to add a third app, we can also drag it to show it in a floating window.

Your most frequent problems

Like any function that requires several system resources, and running several apps at the same time, there may be some bugs or problems that limit the experience . We are going to see the most common ones and how to solve them.

The dock does not appear

The multi-window dock may not appear when you swipe in from the left or right side of the screen. In this case it is likely that we have not enabled multiple windows. We will have to go to Settings / Accessibility functions and verify that if the multiple Windows are activated with the corresponding switch.

Multiple windows uninstalled

If we don’t see the multiple windows even within Settings, we may have accidentally uninstalled them. They can be restored by swiping down from the center of the home screen to display the search box, typing “multiple windows”. Then click on the restore icon next to the search result. Finally we activate the function in the Settings menu as we have seen previously.

Swipe too fast

The slide to activate the multi-window dock requires a short pause. Swiping too fast may cause multiple windows to not respond . We will have to perform the gesture more slowly to see if the problem disappears.

Compatibility issue

Huawei itself admits that multi-windows may not work with some third-party apps and pre-installed system apps. This may be the problem that prevents us from having a certain combination of open apps. However, the firm says it is optimizing its applications and incentivizing third-party developers to adapt more applications to the multi-window function.
