An orange or blinking light on a Huawei device does not have one meaning for every model. On the P20 lite HWV32, a steady orange light indicates charging between 10% and under 90%. That is different from a blinking light. Start by checking the exact phone model, whether it is charging and whether the light is steady or flashing.

Check these three things first
- Identify the device. A phone, tablet, router, earbud case and charging pad use different indicators. On a phone, look in Settings > About phone for the model.
- Check whether it is plugged in. A charging indication can have a different meaning from a notification when the screen is off.
- Watch the pattern. Note the color, whether it flashes and whether a new notification or charger connection changes it.
A light appearing yellow to one person and orange to another is not enough to diagnose a fault. Compare the pattern with the manual for your model rather than applying a color chart from a different Huawei product.

If you own a different P20 lite variant, such as ANE-LX1, check its matching documentation. Huawei provides a P20 lite ANE-LX1 guide. A similar product name does not guarantee that every regional guide uses identical indicators.
Why does my Mate 20 never show yellow?
Huawei’s Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro indicator explanation says those phones use a two-color indicator. Its charging example uses red from 0% to 90% and green above 90%. The missing yellow stage is therefore part of the design, not by itself a broken LED.
What should I do about a blinking orange light?
Do not assume it means the same thing as steady orange on the P20 lite example. Check the model’s manual and compare what happens when you read notifications, disconnect the charger and reconnect a suitable charger.
- If the phone works normally, note the battery level and read or clear the relevant notifications.
- If the light is accompanied by a beep, check where the sound comes from: the phone, charger or another device.
- If charging repeatedly disconnects or the phone will not start, follow that model’s charging troubleshooting steps or contact support.
- Avoid a factory reset as the first response to an unfamiliar light pattern.

Can I change or disable the notification light?
Some models offer a setting such as Flash notification light under notification options. Others do not have a physical LED, and a setting cannot add missing hardware. Search your phone’s Settings for notification-light controls and consult its own guide if the option is absent.
A dot drawn on the display is also different from a separate physical LED. Check the device’s explanation for that on-screen symbol instead of using a charging-light table.
