How to Set up the Xiaomi Mi Band for the First Time

Set up the Xiaomi Mi Band for the First Time

If you are already the owner of the new Xiaomi Mi Band , you may need some help to configure it with your mobile. The bracelet, in all its models, needs to be synchronized with our smartphone to give us many more possibilities and even to have the time well set.

To take advantage of it, therefore, we cannot skip these first steps of configuring the Xiaomi smartband . It does not matter if we have the Mi Band 3, Mi Band 4, Mi Band 5, Mi Band 6 or the following versions that hit the market. All of them have many points in common that also extend to the first configuration that we are going to make.

Mi Fit, the app to configure the Mi Band

The first thing we have to do to update our new bracelet is to link it with our mobile , something that will not entail any added difficulty and only requires downloading the Mi Fit application from Google Play on Android terminals or from the App Store on iPhone.

Developer: Huami Inc.

In the app we will see that the first thing that appears is the option to log in, something that we can do quickly with our Google account, the Mi Account that is recommended especially on Xiaomi smartphones or even with Facebook. But if we still don’t have a Xiaomi gutter, we can create a new one from the button that appears.

permisos inicio sesion mi fit

Once we are inside the app, before completing the steps to pair our bracelet and the mobile, it is essential and highly recommended to accept the permissions that the app asks for. If we do not accept all of them, we will have synchronization problems, call detection and many other advantages that our new sports bracelet has.

But in addition to accepting the permissions, there will come a time when it will ask us to access the do not disturb mode, so that the bracelet can understand when it is working and start it for the bracelet. A series of requirements that will later give way to the synchronization between mobile and smartband.

To start we have to activate the Bluetooth of our mobile and turn on the bracelet just by touching the screen or button. In case it does not respond, we will have to put it to load and approach it to start the process. The steps to follow in the app will be these:

  • We touch within Mi Fit on the Profile tab.
  • Then we choose the option “Add device”.
  • We played on Bracelet.
  • The search for our sports bracelet will begin to link them.

Once you have located the Mi Band, we will only have to configure it on the screen of the bracelet to accept the linking of the device with the account and the mobile.

Before doing anything, update the bracelet

Most likely, the bracelet will receive an update before it is fully synchronized. We will simply let the process finish and we can see the progress of the update on the small screen of the bracelet.

Once the mobile phone and the bracelet are synchronized, it will ask us to configure the notifications, being able to choose from My Fit if we want the bracelet to notify us about the WhatsApp received, notifications or incoming calls. If it does not appear, we will have to manually enter our profile, touch on the Mi Band and then access the Alerts section of applications. Inside we are going to choose our preferences and mark the apps from which we want to receive news.

Choose your preferences in My Fit

The application of our Mi Band bracelet is full of options and possibilities. Among the main ones and that we recommend you configure from the first moment you have the bracelet, there is undoubtedly the heart rate monitor, which helps us to control our heart from the wrist.

To do this we just have to enter our Mi Fit profile> Select the Mi Band and go down to Heart rate detection. Here we will have to choose when we want to use it, all the time, just to better measure sleep or automatically.

But the options are not only there, but we will also be able to choose and configure many other options that are not only linked to the health of our body in the Xiaomi bracelet, such as all the following:

  • Locate bracelet: an option that allows us to vibrate the bracelet from the mobile to find it quickly.
  • Visible: option that we have to have deactivated, since it is only necessary that it be visible before proceeding to synchronize it with the mobile. In this way, no one will know that we have a Xiaomi bracelet.
  • Share heart rate activity: if we have friends in My Fit, we can show or not show this data.
  • Location of the bracelet: to decide if we wear it on the left or right wrist.
  • Raise the wrist: the option that will activate the bracelet with the movements of our hand, where we can choose a specific time where it will come into operation and where it will not, so that, for example, it does not dazzle us at night.
  • Night mode: another mode thinking about the night, with which to set a specific time or sleep detection will avoid dazzling us.
  • Find ringtones: designed to sound as an alarm on our bracelet if we use this option.
  • Screen settings: which allows us to add, remove and change the order of the shortcuts on our SmartBand.
  • Vibration: Adjust the intensity of vibrations for calls and notifications.

Avoid problems with notifications

Before you get to find problems in the notifications, something very common in all versions of the Mi Band, we invite you to put into operation an option created by Xiaomi to ensure that this never happens again. It is inside My Fit, in our profile and touching on the bracelet.

We will go down to where it says “Run in the background” and we will give it all the permissions and we will complete the steps that it requests. This way we will ensure that the Mi Fit app is always attentive to new messages , calls or all kinds of notifications and we will not lose any.
