Every day we use the Microsoft operating system to work with all kinds of applications that are useful to us. At the same time we have the possibility to customize Windows 10 to the maximum so that it adapts to the needs of each one.
What’s more, those from Redmond are gradually introducing new functions in this sense so that we can work with an operating system that is as personalized as possible. And we don’t just talk about issues related to the interface or the look of the software. At the same time we find a series of parameters to adapt the functional section of the Microsoft system.
In addition, with the passage of months, or years, these changes that we carry out increase in number. But it may be the case that for example an update of some software or Windows itself ends up modifying part of those changes. This can refer to the setup screen appearance of the desktop PC with Windows 10. Thus, in the event that we do not like these changes, the first step to solve it would be to look for a button to restore the original configuration. But such a button does not exist, so we cannot go back to the original Windows 10 settings.
Thus, this is something that if necessary we have to establish ourselves by hand. In fact, it is something that we will have to do individually for each aesthetic component of the operating system, something for which we are going to help you.
How to reset default settings in Windows 10
Keep in mind that sometimes, in addition to an update, we can carry out these changes ourselves without realizing it. Or even some other user who has access to the equipment as such and is dedicated to modifying parameters that should not. It is for all this that in order to return to the system startup parameters, here or we will talk about restoring a good number of them. This will make things much easier for us since we see that unwanted changes have been made in the appearance of Windows 10 and we want to start from scratch in this aspect.
Restore Windows 10 Theme and Original Mode
Sometimes just restoring the default Windows 10 theme solves all appearance problems. For this, what we have to do is open the Configuration application on the PC, something that we achieve using the Win + I key combination. Next we go to the Personalization section, and in the window that appears, we do not go to the Themes section. Here we scroll a little down in Themes and click on the theme called Windows 10 to apply it.
In this same sense, another change that we can carry out is to try to change the color of the theme on the PC. The system offers us between light and dark mode, or use a combination of both. Therefore, to achieve this that we comment, again in Settings / Personalization, we are in Colors . Here we just have to click on the Choose the Color drop-down list. It is worth mentioning that by default Windows input is configured with Claro mode, so we can opt for this. We can also use a different color for the applications and the taskbar , so we can select Custom.
On the other hand, what we can also do is select the blue color in the Choose the emphasis color section to use the default color of Windows 10.
Change screen resolution
It should be mentioned that the way in which the content is displayed on the screen depends on its configuration, resolution and scale. So if we see the text larger or smaller than usual, we must change the configuration of the scale. We return to the Settings application and go to System. In the Display section of the left pane, select a scale percentage in Scale and distribution. By default Windows offers us a recommended one based on the equally recommended resolution. Therefore the best solution is to choose both values.
Disable high contrast mode in the operating system
It may also be the case that on the screen we find colors that are different or darker than usual. This can usually come because it has been activated for whatever reason, the high contrast setting that by default is deactivated. Thus, in Settings in this case we are in the Accessibility section, where we see a section called High Contrast.
We click on it, and then we will see a selector that could now be active with the name of Activate high contrast. Therefore at this point we only have to turn it off so that everything returns to normal, or at least to the default parameters of Windows .
Adjust the default font size
It can also be the case that the texts we see larger than usual in the entire operating system. Therefore and to change the size of the text, again from the Accessibility section of Settings, we go to the Screen entry. Here we already find a slider called Enlarge the text. By default Windows sets this value to the minimum, that is, to the leftmost position of that bar.
Turn off scaling customization
In the case that we are using the personalized custom scale settings on the Windows 10 PC, some texts or applications may appear on the screen with an irregular size. That means that the customization of Windows scaling has been activated, something that I came off by default.
To do this, we go to System of the Settings application and click on Screen in the sidebar. Next we click on the Advanced Scale Settings link, which will lead us to a new window. Thus, at the bottom of it we remove any number added in the Custom scale box.
Turn off Night Light mode
We can also find an orange or reddish tone on the screen, which means that the Night Light is activated. Therefore, at this point, the easiest and fastest way we have to deactivate it is from the Action Center. This is located all the way to the right on the desktop taskbar. Here we will see several shortcuts to system functions, where we find the Night Light, where we click to deactivate it.
