Among the many ways that Xiaomi has to allow us to personalize our Xiaomi mobile, there is an option that goes beyond the visual aspect. We refer to the changes that it allows in the ringtone, because we can even use a song in calls , which will sound to notify us.
Although it may seem like a good idea, first of all we warn you that setting a song as a ringtone can end up making us hate it. Therefore, it is better to choose a song that we are not going to hear so much in our day to day or that is not the hit of the summer, or else every time it rings we will think that they are calling us by phone.
Guide to put a song for calls on Xiaomi
The process to put a song as a ringtone from the hand of MIUI is not complex, although it requires some specific steps that we cannot skip. With this that we are going to explain step by step and that we will teach you in images, you will be able to put any song as a ringtone, in a faster or more personalized way, depending on what you are looking for.
Save the song to mobile
Obviously, the first thing we need is to have the song or sound that we like on the mobile. The ways to get them are very wide, either by downloading the song on the mobile directly, receiving it shared from a friend’s mobile, or transferring it from the computer to the mobile.

If the music is on the computer, we will have to connect the mobile to the computer, activate the connection and transfer files in the notification that will appear on the mobile screen. Then we navigate on the computer until we are in the “Ringtones” folder where we are going to copy the desired sound . In the following steps of the process, we will explain what to do with each of the options that you may have used so that the song is on your mobile.
Set the song as a ringtone
Once we have the desired song on our mobile, we are only going to have to follow a few steps that we show you point by point. This process that we show you in MIUI 12, only changes aesthetically with MIUI 11 and MIUI 10, but the process is identical in all of them. To get started, you just have to do the following:

- We enter the mobile Settings.
- We look for the option Sound and vibration, to access it.
- Then it is necessary that the ringtone has sound and the silence of the mobile is deactivated.
- Next we touch on Ringtone.
- We will see the limited options that are presented to us, but we will touch on “All ringtones”.

This will take us to the panel what you can see, with a series of sounds that appear by default in MIUI for several generations and that in these years have been slightly renewed. But its superior options are the ones that interest us to fulfill our purpose of putting music as a ringtone in Xiaomi , we will touch on the option “Choose a local ringtone”.
In the next space, we will have to choose the option “File manager” which will automatically guide us to the sounds that we have added to the mobile from various sources, it can be via download, computer or even if they have shared it with us. Therefore, we will not have to complicate ourselves to find that desired sound or song.
Continuing, we play on the one we want, thus listening to the sound so as not to get confused if we have several with the same name. After being marked at the bottom we touch on the “Ok” and it will already be saved.
Trim the song to our liking with MIUI
The most common is that we do not want to use the song from the beginning, but we are interested that the part with the most rhythm or where the chorus is, is the one that sounds our calls. Xiaomi is aware of this and that is why it also allows us to choose the part that we want to use as a ringtone without having to download anything on the mobile. Something that is also possible in the Redmi and Poco models, by bringing the Xiaomi music app by default.
The previous steps, therefore, will not be of much use if we want to make a part of the song sound when receiving calls . In this case the process is not very complicated either, following these indications:

- We must have the song on the mobile, as we have seen previously.
- Then we open the Music app that is pre-installed on the mobile.
- We begin to play the song that we want to use as a ringtone.
- Now we touch on the clipping tool in the lower part, or in the three upper positions to choose “Tone Editor”.
Now the process will depend on us, listening to the song and moving the start and end indicators of the song, we will be able to choose which part of the music we want to be part of the ringtone. It is advisable that the beginning is well marked, but the end can be extended as much as we want, since in this way the same part will not be repeated all the time.
Download free songs on Xiaomi
To further complete the customization options in terms of the tone of calls, notifications or even alarms, Xiaomi offers us the possibility of not complicating ourselves. We have an option integrated in MIUI that gives access to download songs and sounds for free without limitations or difficulty, being able to use them freely as our alert.

To do this, we just have to enter the Themes application, which is on our smartphone or from Settings> Sound and vibration> Ringtones and choose “Choose a ringtone online”. Once inside the themes, we are going to click on the bell at the bottom and we will have access to a very complete library of ringtones.
We can choose our favorite category and listen to all the sounds until we find the one we want. Once we have found it, we tap on the little bell next to it and decide if we want to apply it as a tone, notification or alarm. Quickly download and apply without doing anything else.
