However, there is a trick by which you can save space with the photos and videos of the iPhone and iPad without taking up space and without having to pay anything . We will tell you everything below.
Trick with iOS Shared Albums
You’ve probably ever heard of iOS albums, which are created so you can share photos and videos with your family and friends. They are, after all, one more album that you can all access if you have an internet connection, and you can even comment or like each photograph or video. You can even later save them in your own storage.
Well, what does this have to do with infinite storage? Well, these albums don’t take up space on your iPhone or iPad. Not even in your contacts. That is why this is tremendously interesting, since you can store all your photos without having to take up space. In fact you can even create an album in which you are alone.
Creating shared albums
In order to create a shared album from your iPhone or iPad, you must have this possibility activated in the settings. Therefore you must go to Settings> your name> iCloud and activate the option “Shared Albums”. Once you check this, you must follow these steps:
- Open the Photos app.
- Go to the “Albums” tab.
- Press the ‘+’ button.
- Select “New Shared Album.”
- Choose a name for this album.
- Click on “Next”.
- Choose the people you want to share the album with.
- Click on “Create”.
It should be noted that afterwards you can remove members from the album . To do this, you must enter said album, click on the corresponding icon to add people in the upper right, click on the participants and below click on “Remove subscriber”. Of course, this will not make you stay alone in the album but will delete it.
In order to have a private album where only you are, you must add your own Apple ID to the album creation process, so that it is only shared with you and no one else can see the photos you store.
Shared Album Limits
Technically, you cannot say that this is infinite storage, but in practice, as you will see below. The limits of each album are as follows:
- Maximum photos and videos a single person can upload per day: 1,000.
- Maximum photos and videos that one person can upload in multiple shared albums: 10,000.
- Maximum shared albums a user can create: 200.
- Maximum shared albums a user can subscribe to: 200.
- Maximum photos and videos that can be in an album: 5,000.
- Maximum comments on photos and videos: 200.
- Maximum characters per comment: 1,024.
- Maximum of invitations that can be made per day: 200.
As you can see, there are limits, but the truth is that the combination that you can do gives results in which you will have practically infinite storage for your photos or videos. Taking into account that you only used this function without sharing it with others, the total of photos and videos that you could have is 1 million if we take into account the number of albums that can be created and the number of content in each of them.
There are also other limits regarding uploading photos, which are the following:
- Maximum uploads of photos and videos per hour: 1,000.
- Maximum uploads of photos and videos per day: 10,000.
- Maximum uploads of photos and videos per month: 25,000.
Highest image quality
It should be noted that shared albums do not compress photos or videos. They support JPEG, TFF, PNG and a vast majority of RAW formats . All of them in original quality and even keeping the ” Live Photo ” options if they have it. For videos, MP4, QuickTime, and H.264 and MPEG-4 file formats can be shared. Although there is no size limit for images, neither in the case of videos, although they will not allow uploading those that last longer than 15 minutes.
