Among all the elements that make up smartphones, the screen is the most important aspect, without it we cannot interact with the mobile and it is impossible for us to perform any other action. For this reason, when the mobile drops or has apparently been broken, we may have the doubt whether it has really stopped working completely or it is only the screen that is failing.
To clear up doubts and find out if the mobile works we have at our disposal several methods that we are going to follow to solve doubts. Do not give up your mobile even if the screen is totally destroyed, perhaps the repair will pay off if the rest of the smartphone continues to work.
Force restart
After a blow, having fallen into the water or any other situation, the mobile can stay with the screen completely black or stay fixed , this can make us doubt whether it really continues to work. To find out, the first thing we have to do is try to force the restart to get out of this situation, in most mobiles it is achieved by simply pressing and holding the power button for at least 10 seconds, at which time it vibrates and restarts.

Force restart iPhone
If we have an Apple smartphone, the steps to follow are different, we only have to know how to force a restart on all iPhone models correctly. In this process, a series of button combinations come into play that have nothing to do with what is seen on Android and will offer us the same result, our mobile will turn on again if it continues to work.
Connect it to computer
A very helpful and useful solution is to connect the mobile phone through its charging port to the computer. If this works, the computer should recognize it and at least start charging. Possibly if we do not have the file transfer mode activated by default we will not be able to save the files but at least we will know that they are still alive even if we cannot use the screen.
View the mobile to an external screen
To get to see the screen that does not work on our mobile on an external screen we can use a computer monitor or even a television. The only thing we need is a USB Type C to HDMI female adapter if we have an Android mobile or a Lightning to HDMI female adapter if we have an iPhone. With this and an HDMI cable we will be able to know if the mobile screen is broken but the mobile works without any problem.
Use the mobile with a mouse
We can also find ourselves in a situation that allows us to see the screen, but nevertheless not interact with it. This may be because the touch functions on the screen do not work and we can solve it by connecting a mouse to the smartphone itself. In this case we will only need a USB Type or Lightning to OTG adapter to which to connect the USB cable of a common computer mouse.
In this way we will instantly know if the problem is solved or on the contrary we have to think about taking it to the technical service with a more serious problem. This solution can be effective for us to be able to send us all the important files from the mobile and not lose any when taking it to the technical service.
