Although at the end of the day we all use smartphones in a similar way, we like to make a difference with the appearance of the mobile. Not only in order to show it to our friends and family, but also for our own tastes and preferences.
Samsung aware of this, offers us from the first version of One UI a series of options in its layer to give personality to our Samsung Galaxy . Achieving it does not require complex processes and not even extra apps, only our own choice and the steps that we will show you.
Samsung themes
To make way for customization, we need to know where to find the Galaxy Themes section. In this case we will easily access by just pinching the home screen of our Samsung mobile. Among the options at the bottom we will see the Themes button that takes us to it.
Once inside we will see that we have the possibility of accessing four different categories of content: Themes, backgrounds, icons and finally AOD. In each of them we will find the corresponding options already predesigned by Samsung and the designers, ready for our smartphone.
In case we decide to choose a complete theme, it will come in most cases accompanied by the corresponding backgrounds, icons and less often than necessary for the Always On Display mode.
We can browse in search of the one we like the most as long as we want, although if what we want are totally free options, we just have to touch on topics on the Free button. This will take us to a panel that we can slide in search of the perfect theme for our mobile.
We will be able to do the same from the rest of the sections of the lower bar. In some cases, such as the icons with the AOD mode, the free ones do not appear, but they do exist. To find them we have to enter Best, and then in the drop-down choose Free.
Once we have found our desired theme, background, icons and other options, we have to get them. Something as easy as touching the button that appears inside each one to download it. Then we can apply it instantly to customize it later or do it little by little as we will see below.
Background, icons and AOD
Once we have downloaded everything we need, it is time to choose, choose and try the many possible combinations with all the content that we can download on our Samsung mobile. To do this we have to go to the download customization section in the Galaxy Themes app itself.
To get there you just have to pinch the home screen again, touch Themes and at the top choose the section called My Stuff. Within it we can see the available content separately.
Currently Samsung has a limitation at this point and that is that its icons, themes or AOD modes that are within the themes cannot be used independently. So what we have to do is a little trick. We will start by choosing the style of icons, which we cannot modify in any other way. Once the theme is selected, we apply it to our mobile without worrying about everything other than the icons.
Once applied, we will have to pinch the screen again, this time to enter the themes and choose the desired wallpaper, from which we have downloaded or new ones, applying it to the home screen, lock screen or both, as we prefer. This will combine the design of the icons with the wallpaper, bringing to life a unique style that we have created.

Dark mode
A classic within the Android landscape that makes a lot of sense in Samsung mobiles. With this, we are not only going to save battery and optimize consumption, but it meant a change of tones, maintaining only the accent of the theme that we have established as we saw before.
We can modify it from Settings> Screen. We can proceed to the manual change or to count ourselves and help our eyes, enter its settings and choose if we want to cause the change from dusk or at a specific time.
Design in apps
The icons are protagonists not only because of the design but also because of the amount of them that we see on the screen. That is why in Samsung we have an option within Settings and the Home screen, where we can choose several key points.
We can choose where we want to see the applications, with the classic Android method based on an app drawer or else just use the home screen to have everything at a simple swipe.
Below we find the grid modes. This will decide how many icons we will see on the home screen, on the apps page and in the folders once we open and show them.
Widgets
Samsung and Google itself on Android are increasingly giving more relevance to Widgets and this leads us to pray for this aspect. The manufacturer is integrating in One UI many quick options that give more value to the widgets, not only aesthetic , but also functional to do more from the home screen.
Using them is very easy, because we only have to pinch the home screen and touch on widgets. Based on the apps that we have installed or that came standard with the system, we will have some options or others. What is certain is that we can access the Samsung step counter, the multi-hour clock or a memory control and automatic cleaning. As well as other widgets that are based on the gallery and on other types of needs.
Is it possible on other mobiles?
The only thing that we will be able to use in other Android terminals are Google’s own widgets, Samsung limits its apps and pro both these. Nor can we benefit from the themes and their advantages if we do not have One UI on our mobile.
Logically, other smartphone brands, such as Xiaomi or Huawei, have their own theme store with different settings than these.
