If you have an Apple TV HD / 4K and an iPhone you should know that you don’t even need the remote control. Yes, this can be more comfortable and practical, but you can get the same functions from your mobile. This is interesting especially when the remote has no battery, is damaged or you have lost it at home.
Siri Remote App on iPhone
There is a native iOS application dedicated to controlling the Apple TV. This doesn’t really appear by default on all devices, but it is added when you set up an Apple TV . Of course, for this you must have logged in to that device with the same Apple ID as in the iPhone. Then it will be enough that both computers are connected to the same WiFi network .
With access from the Control Center
The application in question can be found independently, but much more conveniently in the Control Center of the iPhone, where it is automatically added. Once you click on its respective icon, you will find an interface like the one shown in the following image.
If you want to move this app, you can do it in Settings> Control Center. Once here you must press and hold the three stripes that appear next to “Apple TV Remote” and move it up or down depending on where you want to place it. Remember that to open the Control Center on an iPhone with a home button you must slide from the bottom of the screen up and on an iPhone with a ‘notch’ from the top right down.
Although the layout is slightly different, you can perform the same actions as with the Siri Remote. The upper area will serve as a trackpad to move around the interface, but you will also find the menu button, the microphone button to invoke Siri or make searches in applications more comfortable. But if there is an outstanding function in this it is the possibility of entering text manually with the iPhone keyboard, since it can be very tedious to do it with scrolling on the Apple TV screen.
If iPhone won’t connect to Apple TV
There are several reasons why an Apple TV might not connect properly with your iPhone. Check the following points:
- Apple TV is connected to the internet.
- The iPhone is connected to the internet.
- Both devices are connected to the same WiFi network.
- The Apple ID of the iPhone is the same as that of the Apple TV.

An interesting option that perhaps many do not know is to see the iPhone screen on Apple TV . All this as a mirror, that is, that what you do on the mobile device appears on the screen. To do this you must do the following:
- Open the Control Center.
- Click on “Duplicate screen” .
- Select the Apple TV.
Once this is done you will see your iPhone on the screen. Of course, you must take into account a series of limitations such as playing multimedia content according to which applications. While some like YouTube might be valid, others like Netflix might not play. However, it does not seem like a great inconvenience if we take into account that to carry out these actions you can have said application installed on tvOS.
