Times change and although eSIM is slowly coming to Spain and many other countries, step by step, it is becoming more and more common. It seems that after many attempts, we can finally forget about the small plastic SIM card and move on to something more current. To do this, the first thing we need is to have one of the available eSIM-compatible mobiles and then configure it as we will see with the eSIM in Huawei .
For now, the only ones from the Chinese firm that support it are the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro , an incentive to forget about the need for Google services and apps. Although the process is not too complicated, it is something new that we may have never seen and therefore the steps to follow in EMUI are new to most.
Use and activate eSIM on Huawei phones
The first thing we will need is for our telephone company to provide us with all the necessary information to use the eSIM card , something that can be done through email, the app or through postal mail. Once we have it, we will only have to follow the steps that we show you in EMUI 10 or later versions:
- We access the mobile settings.
- We enter the Mobile Networks section.
- And we choose SIM Management.
- Next we will touch on one of the free stops for the SIM.
- We select eSIM.
With this, our mobile will be ready to accept the eSIM card, which as we have said we have to have access to to complete the process with the following steps:
- At the bottom we will touch on Add eSIM.
- The camera will be opened to scan the QR code that our company has provided us.
- If not, tap on Enter manually at the bottom of the screen.
- Here we will manually enter the data without making a mistake with any.
Finally we save it and the process will be over. We only have to return to the Network Management session to set the eSIM in Huawei as the default for calls or mobile data in case of having more than one card.
Doubts and problems with the eSIM
Are all carriers compatible?
No, some carriers do not yet offer eSIM cards and in some cases they are only available for iPhone. We will have to consult it directly with ours to know if it is possible to use it on our Huawei mobile.
How to troubleshoot with the eSIM
In case we have problems, all we have to do is access the Settings section> Mobile networks> SIM management> Choose the eSIM and then touch reset. Then we can re-enter it with the previous steps.
